Component Deals & Selection / Re: Going 1 x 10
« on: July 02, 2014, 11:07:02 AM »
Ahh, ok, thanks for that explanation, br. Makes loads more sense now.

I was actually thinking the same thing about the SRAM stuff, seems like the price climbed a lil on ebay? Perhaps simple supply and demand. And yeah I guess the whole 1x thing is going to take quite a bit longer to trickle down than I expected, but as long as we have companies like One up that are trying to innovate, it will be interesting. I think the first company to come out with an affordable cassette will win big. All this piecing together a cassette only to find out it doesn't work as expected is for the birds. Hopefully RAD can change that.

Good stuff, thanks for posting it up. Have a chiner build coming up that I will seriously consider adding these components to.

Interesting. Hmmm.. so I clicked the link and read the page but I still don't really understand what the RAD cage actually does? It just makes a standard derailleur work better if you choose to go up to a 40 or 42T cog? Sorry if I'm missing the obvious here.

Ine thing's for sure, OneUp is going after the 1X10 market hard, and rightfully so. Still can't believe Shimano is nowhere in sight. Guess it's like Apple with smart watches lol. They think they set the trends. Will be interesting to see how much they actually do set it.

am fairly impressed.

Give it some time and get it dialed in... You'll start to appreciate the little nuances and learn exactly what you do and don't like about the bike.

Looks awesome, btw!

Mind if I ask why you're selling it?

To see if he can. Basically charging $400 for assembly of a chiner. Not saying that's a bad thing, just saying.

After The Ride / Re: Movies you've seeen lately

Haha, WoWS is a bad ass movie.

I'm looking forward to the new movie about Noah's Ark. I'm a pretty big Russell Crowe fan, couldn't imagine anyone else I'd rather see in this role.

The Honsen website is also terribly slow.  Looks like just another me too trading company that also posts false information if they say they are using T1000 carbon when, according to Peter, is unlikely since no Chinese manufacturers have access to T1000 carbon.

SO is Honsen advertising T1000 but these frames aren't actually T1000 carbon? Or are these frames T1000 carbon and Iplay is more careful than Honsen when listing descriptions on their sites?

Somebody should make a sticky thread specifically about the different kinds of carbon fiber - where each kind is usually used, the different properties of each one, etc. I would but I'm totally clueless.

And that is an absolutely ridiculously nice wheel set there, carbonazza.

After The Ride / iPhone or Android??
« on: June 20, 2014, 09:17:12 PM »
So while I love my current iPhone 4s, I'm due for an upgrade and those huge bright Android screens are calling out to me.

So, what's your preference?

Enter.

Had a little trouble adding the image.. for others as computarded as me.. go to "profile" in the menu, then go to "forum profile", then select "upload an avatar" and you can just pull the image from your computer at that point.

Awesome contest!

I guess the obvious thing to do would be to start a group buy....

This!

29er / Re: Would you pay someone to build a Chiner for you?
« on: June 07, 2014, 09:51:42 PM »
I'm fairly certain a lot of people would.

Consider the price of tools, grease, bike stand, etc, and time spent doing the build and it would make sense for a lot of people to spend the money to have someone else do it.

People are always willing to pay for convenience. How much is the real question.

^^ Actually a very nice bike to pull parts from. Great components. Why not the cranks? Nice cranks, man.. You should list em on the new buy, sell, trade section of the forum if you do get rid of em. I may snag em.

Realize the request for pics of the slammed stem may've seemed a lil odd lol.. Dunno why, I just really love the way a completely slammed stem looks with a negative rise stem. Yours looks especially sweet with that Syntace. That said, not sure I'd want a set-up like that.. I assume it is simply just a more race oriented riding position?

What kind of seat post is that?

Thanks for the reply.

So.. if one was considering some Hope Pro hubs laced to some Stan's flow rims, it'd be pretty stupid to not just buy these instead. Man, it's tempting I just think I'll hold out for carbon hoops. Will be about $200 more though. Hmmm.. decisions, decisions.
