Stems and carbon steerer
« on: August 17, 2014, 08:01:11 AM »
Planning my next build, I see Dimension doesn't recommend their stems for carbon steerers. Unfortunately, most of the stems in my inventory (stemvintory?) are Dimension, since they're relatively cheap and work fine. Does anyone know why they wouldn't recommend this?

When I compare my Dimension stems' clamp area to other stems (Salsa, Race Face, FSA, Easton), I really can't see or feel any difference.

My blog, some of it about China Carbon stuff:

They probably had someone complain they cracked a carbon steer tube with one of their stems so for liability reasons they are saying not to use their stems on carbon steer tubes.  For you, just use carbon paste and don't over tighten your stem.
