BXT Road 115 (BXT-ROAD-115)
« on: December 09, 2021, 08:17:21 PM »
I am considering to get the BXT road 115 frameset from BXT official store on AliExpress.
I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this frame or BXT product quality, sales and after sales service.

I was going for the velobuild press fit BB vb-r-177 but found the bxt-road-115 to be also very interesting and slightly cheaper (on sale now).
I prefer press fit BB but this comes with BSA BB. Which BB spec is better?

Any comments before I pull the trigger?

Thanks!

The big issue with the Press Fit is creaking. I had some minor creaking issues from my PF 86/92 Wheels Manufacturing thread together BB, but when I switched over to a SRAM DUB 29mm spindle Wheels Manufacturing BB, I have had no issues across two different frames. The biggest issue was the cost of all the tools to remove and install a traditional PF. On the other hand, I had a BSA on my aluminum frame Giant road bike that I ended up stripping clean in around 2000 miles of riding. The frame was trashed but Giant replaced it, no questions asked.

Other things that get talked about are the big fat bottom areas that builders can design because the PF BBs sit flush with the frame.

Anyway, with a little research, you can read all about PF versus BSA but it all just comes down to what's cost effective and worth your time.

Hi, I've bought the BXT-ROAD-115 from BXT official store and I'm very satisfied.
The seller was very accommodating and always answered all my doubts.  Since Now I've traveled 1.300Km, and since now no issue.

I don't know which BB is better between Press Fit or BSA, in my case I've mounted a Shimano BSA, and it's seem good.

Attached my bike.

I'm curious, finally have you bought the BXT frame?

kind regards,
Luigi

Hi, congratulations on your BXT 115. Looks awesome!

I ended up going with the Vb-r-177 frame of which I had slipping seat post issues. I solved it but still not comfortable (i.e. having phobia it is gonna start slipping again when least expected).

I am still on the lookout for a circular clamped seat post bike that also has dropped seat stays and looks aero too like the Yishunbike R096-D.

I want that too! Dropped seatstays, preferably 27.2 post and half-ish aero like the Tarmac SL7

The SL7 Fact-r 12 is the dream bike, but 6000 USD for a frame is too much.

Sad thing with all the Chinese frames that quality control and weight is through the roof.

It is not general, it depends who you are buying from.

Hi, of course I have no proof that the tests that BXT brags about have actually been run and are sufficient. what I can say is that the frame responds well at the moment, it is well done and it hasn't given me any problems. for the price I paid (about 500/600 Eur) I am more than satisfied.
Cheers,
Luigi

P.S.
no slipping seat post issues.. :)

Just wondering what is the final weight of your build?  I saw a buyer review on Aliexpress that shows 1307g for a size 52 frame.

Also regarding slipping seatpost, I find that there are less cases of slipping seatpost if the seat clamp bolt is clamped from above the top tube (like your BXT115 and my vb099), unlike the vb177 and vb168 clamps which are accessed from underneath the top tube.

I have the Velobuild 168 frame in size 49cm. Here are the weights of the components for comparison:
