Recommendations for building a rim brake lightcarbon frame

Hello Friends,

I want to build a carbon rim brake frame that is as light as possible.

From what I have read, this is a forum with a lot of experience on the subject. That is why I would like you to help me with your recommendations.

I have seen these two models but I would like you to give me your assessment of which one is most recommended. And if possible, any suggestions about others.

 Links are not working for me, but the velobuild R077 is pretty well known for building up a light bike. Check out weight weenies forum for some examples.

having done this recently, i used the Velobuild 066 frame as i wanted a more relaxed geometry.  the frame is not going to be where you save the weight. you are talking maybe 150-200 grams between the lightest open mold frames and an average one.  mine was a size L and was around 1050g.  the components are going to be where you win or loose.  winning is very expensive but there are some options.  seat post and handlebars, stem as well as cassette are where you can make up a lot of weight.

Is there a particular reason you're going with a Chinese frame? Depending on where you are in the world, there are probably options that are cheaper than a Chinese frame - for example, rim brake versions of the Focus Izalco Max, Giant TCR Advanced SL, Fuji SL, Supersix Evo Hi-Mod. In Australia, at least, pretty much all of these frames are as cheap (or cheaper) than a new Chinese frame.

Lots of good Chinese options for components though as jefflinde above has mentioned. I can also vouch for the Elita One seatpost, I'm using the 27.2  offset one on my Focus Izalco Max and it was light, cheap and easy to set up. I'm also using an Elita One saddle which has worked well for me so far too.

@Jefflinde I read your entire thread before writing this post. I have all the components you have mentioned to me.

I also have a ultegra R8000 group and Rothar Vento 38 wheels. I want it to weigh little because I like climbing bikes.

@Raidinberry777 I'm from Spain and I'm looking for a Chinese painting because it's an economical option for me.

My current picture is a little big and I need to change it after doing a biomechanical study because of some discomfort.

All the models quote by @ENEP appear to be variants of the FM066SL which has been around for 10 years, right down to the weights. (I have one in my shed waiting for a lightweight rebuild).

You should have a look round your local market place. Those frames very popular  years ago for lightweight builds, and can be found locally very cheap as chiner frames don't have a great resale value and rim brakes are out of fashion.
