New Corvette Anyone?
« on: July 08, 2014, 11:34:03 PM »
Somehow went from Spanish horse festivals to drooling over the latest 'vette. Nature of the interwebs, I suppose.

Man, this thing has to be the sexiest, most bad ass looking car I've seen in a long time, maybe ever. I'm in love with this thing. Anyone else? Like something else better? The Skyline GT-R is sweet but I don't think it has anything on the corvette (strictly speaking about design)

I am a Corvette fane.  Probably the only American car I would have in my garage.  The C7 looks great from most angles and has great performance.

When I was at the track (Road Atlanta) a few weeks ago, there was a yellow C7 in one of the other run groups, looks like the driver had a lot of fun driving his new Vette on the track.

I am also a Corvette fan.  I have a poster of the new C7 Z06 on my cubicle wall.  I will own one of these some day.  Or a CTS-V wagon.  Those are like Corvettes for men with families.  ;D

The C6 Z06 is still a monster as well and are getting much cheaper with the introduction of the C7.

The new vettes are soooo insanely sick! I would absolutely love one.. unfortunately, they are well out of my current range. I really like the changes they made to the tail lights.. was never a big fan of the two oval shaped tail lights.

The last couple weekends I've been hanging out at the track with two friends who each own a Vette.  The black one is a Z06, the red one just has the Z51 package.  Both are great drivers.  I got to drive 8-10 hot laps in the red Vette at Atlanta Motorsports Park, had a great time.  This picture is from Atlanta Motor Speedway, they run some of the high bank oval you can see in the background and then turn into an infield road course.

Here is a pic I took of a silver C7 that was at Atlanta Motor Speedway with us.  Owner was a nice guy but not the smartest of Vette owners that I've met.

Oh man.. That looks like TONS of fun CD!

Lol, a dumb vette owner. Should be like a child.. you should've been able to take the vette into your own care to ensure it would be treated properly. It's only right.

Back in the real world, I plan on getting an IS250 in a few months:

What I would REALLY like to have  a MB E Coupe... but it's a bit too pricey, and from what I've read, the quality of MB just isn't that great. On the other hand, Lexus consistently ranks in the top of the industry for reliability.

But, oh man.. I just love the lines on this coupe:

My buddy has a 2006 IS350 with 168,000 and still going strong.  There was one issue with the direct injection that was fixed for free outside of warranty.  And the leather on the driver's bolster is broken down.  But otherwise, the car still runs great.  Lexus/Toyota build quality is there.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to look for that.

This will be a HUGE upgrade for me.. currently driving a lil mazda truck that was sold to me by a friend. I'm proud to say that my chiner is worth more than my vehicle  ;D

Will def be keeping the truck as my daily driver and MTB trail vehicle, so it worked out pretty well. Looking to get a camper shell put on the truck, and make it a dedicated MTB vehicle.

Here is another shot of me with my S2000 and Charley with his Corvette at a December track day, at Talladega Grand Prix.  It's a little track on a piece of farmland in Alabama.  It was a cold day to be on the track but we had lots of fun.

Well, while we're showing off personal rides...

My daily is a 2000 Subaru Forester with 201,500 miles.  Still runs great.

My fun car is a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX with full 2005 STi swap, a Spec-C EJ207 motor with AVCS, ball bearing twin-scroll turbo, and a TON of other modifications.  Every piece of the engine bay, undercarriage, and suspension was overhauled.  She's been my baby since new and I've put so much time and car into her.  Not a bolt left unturned (or unplated!)

Here's the car's build thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2061849
Here is the car's album with no details: http://s176.photobucket.com/user/kpluiten/library/WRX%20Wagon%20Build%20-%202010

And in the spirit of this thread, I have Grand Sport inspired stripes.  (yeah, I know, kind of rice).

Sorry to hijak; I love showing the car off though.

No worries on the hi jack.. Love to see the cars of enthusiasts! Very nice Subaru, VP! My fav color for a car hands down. For the longest, I wanted a 350z exactly that color. Got over that though. Always wanted to drive an S2000,  mainly because I've read so much about how great they handle. Apparently they are very well balanced from front to rear.

I test drove a 2008 Honda S2000 ClubSport in blue for a friend who wanted me to check it out before he flew in from out of state to buy it a couple of years back.  The car had 8400 original miles and some of the parts were still in the factory plastic!  Either way, I fell in love with the S2000 on that drive.  Brilliant cars.  The cockpit was laid out perfectly, everything exactly where the driver needed it.  The suspension was dialed perfectly.  The motor was rev happy and sounded great.  It is proof that there are still motorsports enthusiasts tucked away in that company.  The S2000 is totally a bucket list car for me.  Though, since I'm a Subaru guy, I'm really wanting a BRZ with some sort for forced induction.  If Subaru brings that, I will buy.

Just googled the BRZ.. All this time I've been seeing it on the road I thought it was a Scion! Not sure why.

Hey, VP.. What is it that you like about Subaru so much? Just curious, as I've notice guys that drive them seem to be fairly fanatical about the brand.

You thought it was a Scion because the FRS is a Scion.  The FRS is basically the same car as the BRZ.  Toyota and Subaru co-developed the car and each sell it under their own brand name.
