Flyxii FR-603 road bike build
« on: February 25, 2020, 01:16:10 AM »
It all started when I build cheap 700c wheelset on Deore hubs and AlexRims MD19 for my old cross country TREK 8500.
I used two wheelsets: 27,5" on RoRo 2.1 for cross country and 700c on Lifeline 25c for road riding.

XC bike on a road wheels is a weird thing, so i decided to find cheap disc road frame.
There are no cheap alloy disc frames on russian market, so i started to search carbon frames on aliexpress and i found FLYXII FR-603
I know that it is a cyclocross frame, but anyway should be fine for road build.

I spent only 220$ for Frame and Wuzei carbon fork.
Frame weight 1129gr in 55cm size. Paint quality is poor: shagreen, bubbles, paint runs, etc.
As a reparation for defects seller sent me a carbon bottle cage.
Despite paint defects frame is not bad itself. Geometry and sizing is OK.
Seatpost, headset, bottom bracket and brake caliper was mounted without any issues.

I had 10 speed 10-34 cassette on my road wheelset, so i decided to put 10 speed transmission.
Fortunately, I found brand new shimano 5703  dual control on Aliexpress for 70$!
Other parst are:
rear derrailleur 9 speed XT shadow
front derrailleur Deore, Crankset Shimano LX/hone 48/63/26
handle bar, seatpost and saddle are all chinese carbon from aliexpress.
stem - UNO 7 110mm
Brakes - TRP Spyre
pedals shimano 520

Build is not over yet.
just need to put handlebar tape and mount pedals.
Before summer season start planning to rebuild wheelset on XT 775 hubs.
Overall bike wheelset is about 9kg. Not lightweigth, but ok for the price.

I ordered a 55cm UD matte.
Fr603 don't have 55cm size. 54cm is max size.
UD matte should be at least 100gr lighter than my glossy

That was the option when I ordered direct http://www.flyxii.com/PRODUCTSDetial?product_id=216&brd=1

I hope it is true because it is only a few millimeters different than the measurements of my gravel bike.  This is going to be a semi-permanent trainer frame with limited road use.

And it actually arrived today.

Hi guys I recently bought the same frame from Ali Express, and I came across a problem where the plastic cable guard at the bb was not sent and when I msged the seller he said it doesn't come with it... How do you guys solve/cover the hole ?

Did yours have a cable guide?  Mine does but without a cover.  I might try and 3d print something or maybe ask Flyxii if the have, or could create, an stl file for a cover.

It hasn't seen anything other than my trainer platform so I forgot about it.

Seller sent me photo of it attached, so I assume it should normally be included.

Search for bottom bracket guide on Ali and you will find a lot, although I didn't see any yet that look identical to this one.

I spent only 220$ for Frame and Wuzei carbon fork.

I'd be interested how this Wuzei carbon fork held up? I am thinking of purchasing a carbon fork from them in a configuration not many companies selling anymore:

Received FR-603 frame from flyxii 55cm. Quality is trash.

- They clearly painted the frame black over top (not a clear coat whyyyy), then got a bunch of paint in the bearing seats.
- Top bearing seat has a chunk missing.
- BB shell is aluminum (good), but has scratching and glue in it from something.
- They painted over the rear fender mounts, use a knife to open them up (M4)
- Rear disc mounts needed to be re-tapped (M6x1), some glue inside, easy to do
- Big void in top tube (or resin? unsure), big voids in head tube area
- BB is ok on the left side (42.00mm), way off on the right side (41.80mm) even after cleaning out any overspray

Rear seatstay distance = 53.5cm, but might have less tire clearance at the bottom.
Frame weight = 1.25kg
Shell size = 42mm. So threaded options: Ztto BB30SH/sr for 24mm, BB386 won't work, its for 46mm.

- Seat tube and down tube seem OK, nice and clean inside
- Clear coat over the black is actually nicely done in general

edit: seller said "take to local bike shop to repair bearing seat" but its unlikely any local shop would be willing to work on CF, unless they are a specialized location.. will see.
