SRAM AXS - Ebay Seller Italy
« on: May 03, 2020, 06:15:12 PM »
A few weeks ago I purchased the SRAM AXS Upgrade Kit from an eBay seller in Italy.  At the time it seemed like a bit of a gamble but with eBay buyer protection I went ahead and placed the order.  Including shipping and tax to the US, total was $798, about $270 less than retail + tax.  Item shipped fast and arrived in 4 days.  They've raised the price by $40 but still not a bad deal for anyone who wants to upgrade to the ultimate in drivetrain technology.

772 shipped from here:https://www.lordgun.com/sram-xx1-eagle-axs-1x-12s-upgrade-kit-1

Also Italy. I was considering picking up an insurance policy for my bike. Would certainly need it with that expensive of a derailleur hanging off it.
Bikes direct has a $2600 bike with AXS on it. The rest of the spec isn't anything super special but if you wanted to kit out a frame with a axs and a Pike it could be a good deal.

I installed what they call the Mullet on my gravel.

The rear is the Eagle cassette and derailleur, and the front are two Force shifters.
I'm afraid I won't be able to install anything else on my bikes  ::)

It's good.  Extremely easy to install and setup.  Shifting is amazingly smooth, even with a used GX Eagle cassette.  The only thing that took time to adjust to is the controller, for the first few rides my brain had to think a second as to which part of the shifter, top or bottom, to get the bike to shift in the direction I wanted.  You can even swap which button does what, but I just left it at the default configuration.  I've got about 6 rides on the bike and shifting is becoming second nature, and very fast and smooth.  I find myself shifting just for the fun if it sometimes.

However, given the choice between an AXS XO1 Eagle Groupset, or for about half the price, just installing a XX1 Eagle mechanical groupset, the XX1 Eagle is probably the smarter choice.  The AXS group is new and different, and also brings along some bragging rights, so for now it's cool.  I'm sure in the future there will be GX AXS and the price will start to fall on all the AXS choices, but until then I will continue to enjoy my "robo shifting" as I like to call it.

I really want to try the AXS system on my next build but am on the fence about the cost.  I can envision a day, not too far in the future, when derailleur, seat post, and suspension lockouts on SRAM products are all on AXS (we're half-way there already).  Think of how clean the cockpit will be.

Right now, SRAM was smart and use the same battery for both seat post and derailleur.  I hope the continue that for the fork/shock lockouts.  I would be all-in on the SRAM ecosystem then.
