XS 26er frames?
« on: December 01, 2014, 12:14:08 PM »
After reading a topic over on MTBR in the "Riding with Families" section, I started looking into an XS 26er build for my son.  I would likely transfer almost everything from my old 26er to that bike.  Anybody have any leads on who sells something in the 14-16" range?  He's 10 right now, about 4'5", so I'm guessing he wouldn't fit into something like this for another year, so that may be next year's Christmas present.

My daughter is also 10yr, 5'3" and is riding a 15,5" specialized stumpjumper.
I know Cube have 14" frames. You can find them also on eBay and AliExpress.

Maybe that's something nice to start with.
Nice to build together? Nice dad-son project :)

jwilds1-  I recently posted a similar question in the 29er thread. I came across a 14" 29er.  Not sure it is the best option but it got some conversation started.  There are in fact a lot of 14" chiners out there. If you look on Alibaba they are all over.  Not sure which is the best one to buy, but they are there.  Have you by chance researched any of them?

Haven't looked into it too much.  He's still fine for his 24" bike, and will wait and see how much he grows between now and the fall to see if it makes sense to do it for a Christmas present.  I couldn't imagine seeing what a 14" 29er would look like.  Pretty sure I'm going to stick with a 26er, and trade over some of my old bike's components and upgrade where I can.  If I do anything, I'll make sure to post it up here :)
