Best fork offset for the IP057
« on: August 13, 2015, 06:27:08 PM »
I have a IP057 coming in and am trying to figure out what fork to put on it. I want the fork to be 120mm but I'm not sure what offset to get. Does anyone have any suggestions with this frame. I have a brand new fox 32 with 44mm offset. Do you think this would be fine for the bike? Or would the 51 be better?

I use a Reba with a 51mm offset on mine. From what I understand less offset makes it more twitchy. Probably just comes down to a preference thing, I would try the fork you have and see how it feels. If it feels to twitchy go to a 51 and see if it's better.

More offset actually makes the bike more twitchy.. It is the same as steepening the head angle. But if you are increasing travel (slackening head angle) more offset might combat that a little bit.

I think 51mm is a Trek offset. Trek uses a 69.5 degree head tube angle. Most frames use a 46mm fork.

Yep, that's the G2 geometry. Have a G2 fork that was awaiting my aborted 036 project.
