Hongfu HF-FM058 w/ Scott Spark Geo

As the beautiful lcfs911 frame (which looks exactly like the Scott Spark, but with a different head tube angle and 10mm longer chainstays) is not available in XL

just got word from Yishuns sister company - no XL version available

I'm now looking at the Hongfu HF-FM058 which clones the Scott Spark geometry, but not it's looks:

What do you think? 435mm chain stays sounds great, weight (1750+/-40g) is really low (too low?). Is the 69° HT angle still fashionable in 2018? BB92 will make me buy yet another pair of cranks. Plus, it says 21" is available, but they only sell 15, 17 and 19" on aliexpress. I'll find out.

maybe run a 120mm front suspension and you will get a slacker HA? that is what I was planning. Aliexpress rep for TanTan cycling said 1 month for this frame.

It comes with a boost and non boost triangle.

I am worried which cranks to run with the boost triangle, but keen to run a bike which can have 27.5+ and 29er tyres.

Me too. 120mm Fork could be a solution for more slack, BB drop is 50mm so this should still be fine, 20mm in the front will only result in 8-10mm reduced BB drop.
Which rear shock size would you choose - 165*38mm or 190*44mm? What's more common, are there pros and cons?
Did TanTan say you can use 27.5 and 29 on the same frame? They listed those as two different frame options on their site.

I think the dual shock stuff is a mistake in the marketing material, I dont know how it can fit both.

TanTan didnt say you can use both wheels on the same frame, but the only difference between the two models appears to be the rear triangle width. In this case it makes sense going with the boost and running both 27.5 and 29er on a wider hub.

So you think the different parameters in wheelbase or reach result from the wheel sizes? But why on earth is the 650b version *longer* than the 29er? TT and Chainstay are identical...

mmm... I didnt see those differences but I would still choose the 27.5+ with the longer wheel base and I am sure it could run 29" tyres.

I wrote HF an email this morning with a couple of questions, boost and non-boost as well. Let’s see how they explain everything. I don’t think they use different main frames for 650b and 29, just the rear triangle.

This frame look perfect except for one thing....2.2 MAX tire width. I can live with a BB92 instead of BSA but such a narow tire width isn't appealing at all.

So, has anyone on here got one of these frames?  I can't seem to find anyone on here with one.

It seems like some people have been scared off by the rear tyre clearance, but it might be not as much an issue as first thought.

for potential M06 owners, why would you go the M06 over the FM058, when you are after a XC race bike, and don't need boost rear spacing?

the overall geometry seems about the same (similar chainstay, 68.5vs69HA), but the FM058 seems a bit lighter.

I recently came across that french light bikes forum, and there are a few now with the FM058.  One even has switched to a FM058 from a M06, but google translate is not making it clear to me what the reasons were for the switch.  and it seems that 2.25 tyres fit, which is enough for me.  now, they have an "SL" version (T800 carbon), which one guy has received and weighed to be just on 1700g (15.5", no shock or shock bolts).

any reason why so little FM058 love on here?  is the M06 just getting more attention from XC racers because it has been around longer?

Most likely this, a year ago almost nobody here had any experience with either of frames. If I knew FM058 was ~300g lighter, I'd go that route instead of M06. If fly/sky weight rims are any indication, we might see even lighter frames in several years, on par with high end brand frames, like what happened with MTB rims. Here's a quote from conversations with Carbonbycicle.cc to prove the point, it's about road rims but I'm sure it's a sign of a bigger trend:

If you're going to respond to Lisa/TanTan, you should at least check out their site and realize that they make a <2000g Scott Spark replica.

If anyone's interested, I've asked Hongfu about 19" FM-058: the price is 650USD and weight is in 1800±40g range.
