XTR 9000 Race Brakes

First ride yesterday with new XTR 9000 race brakes, 40km xc loop.... Excellent modulation and bags of power with 160mm rotors (my weight 67kg) nice progressive feel on the carbon levers. About 200g weight saving on the SLX they replaced

How do you find lack of Servo Wave compared to SLX? During my last build I had to choose between R1r, MT8 and 9000, so I'm still curious about the subject.

I prefer the feel without the servo wave, certainly no loss of braking power and better modulation...... I wanted the MT8 race but couldn't justify the extra money just for fluro callipers. Plus it was an easier instal as I left the SLX hose for the rear in place and just connected the banjo and lever and re bleed them. What did you go for last time?

I replaced the levers of my XT brakes with the XTR Race. I also prefer the feel of the non Servo Wave levers. When you brake hard...it feels much smoother...if that makes any sense. You don't have that lockup feeling...like you're going to get thrown off the bike at its limit. I still have XT's on another bike...and when I grab those levers...there is a "notch" feeling towards the end of the travel.

Absolutely, they give you the confidence to brake harder when needed without the threat of throwing you out the front door!!  ;D
