Salutations! Recreational rider from central Sweden here. I recently had a 1-to-1 training session with a professional MTB instructor, which reignited my MTB interest (been mostly road biking the last couple of years). As I recently turned 50, and realizing my 2014 Scott Scale 710 HT is no fun anymore, I've decided to treat myself to a new full suspension XC, possibly downcountry bike. After discovering the subculture that this forum represents, I'm currently planning to build a bike (on the cheap) with as many parts from China as possible. I'll post some in-progress updates in due time; currently I'm leaning towards the frames from LightCarbon/Airwolf with either a Bolany Shined or a SR Suntour Axon Werx/Elite front fork. Also considering a customised HT for my son with 20" wheels, as he's quickly outgrowing his first bike with 16" wheels.

Greetings! I stumbled across this forum while banging my head against the wall trying to find information about what's good and what's not on the non name brand carbon. My immediate need is that I am building a bike to get my wife out on the trails.. I've got most everything from a component standpoint and just need an affordable frame. If that goes well I am sure that I'll spend a lot of time here in the future looking to upgrade the rest of my fleet!

Descobri o forum procurando informações para montar minha BXT Gravel 135, decidi comprar pelo bom custo vs beneficio mas com algumas inseguranças sobre durabilidade e qualidade, também vi que existem alguns relatos de caixas de direção que precisam de alguns ajustes. Mas isso irei pesquisar e ler aqui no forum, muito obrigado.

new here on the forum.
Introducing myself:
- Joined a privileged cycling club in the Rheinlands (privileged = permanent access to an indoor velodrome) in my elemetry school days at the very beginning of the 80s together with my dad, older sister joined a few years later.
- Love for drop bar bikes never faded. Still riding road, cyclocross and track. Love bike packing and racing occasionally. Love my road bike tandem and the gal on the stoker saddle.
- One of my kids taking the same path, but with more success making it into national track cadre.
- A proper self build needs a self build wheelset, otherwise I woud't call it my self build.
- I'm glad you guys and gals share all your knowlede on chiner stuff here in the forum!
PS: If I had more spare time I would improve on my 20" mod trails bike, LOL.

Nowadays I own different bikes
Road bike for winter training, which I bought used: full carbon, Ultegra 11-sp, Di2
Road bike for sunny days: Felt FR1. I built this up myself. Also full carbon, Ultegra 11-sp. Di2
MTB: Scott Genius 910 with Sram GX AXS

Inspired by Chinertown, building myself:
Road bike BXT SL-115 full carbon, Ultegra 11-sp, Di2. Elite ENT, many parts from Ali. I was sharing this build on Chinertown
I try to sell BXT custom built road bikes on different platforms (similiar to ebay) in Switzerland, but until now, there is no interest at all
Hardtail MTB: I recently bought an SPcycle M05 which I will build with Shimano XT. I will share my experience about that.

Sup, I have no clue what I'm doing but damn I could use a better bike and a guiding hand.

Currently commuting to work and everywhere else in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, USA on a 16 inch single gear folding bike I got for $75. I'm very happy with it, it's shittyness is very fun! But it's time to tier up. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do that without buying a whole bike. That isn't very cool or cheap and I wouldn't know how to maintain it. Everyone here seems to know more about building cool bikes than I do so I'm here to learn.

Currently own 2 Adventurer folding bikes.
Want to build a speedy road bike for travel around my city and nearby small towns.
I also have a special interest in anything nonstandard, recumbents, bikes with fairings, folding bikes, that sort of thing.

Hi everyone!

Mikimono here from Spain. I'm getting into gravel cycling and, after checking many different models, none of them fully matched my requirements. Most of them would need further modifications, or simply became too expensive.

So I finally decided to start a project and build my own custom gravel bike from scratch using an open mould frame. Let's see where this adventure ends... 😄

Thanks to the forum for all the valuable information. I hope to learn a lot from you guys and, hopefully, also contribute a little along the way.

I finally decided to join this forum because I want to start my journey with a Chinese bike build. I’ve been riding for over 20 years, mostly in more extreme disciplines, and I’ve gone through a wide range of bikes in my life—from pretty bad ones to high-end premium brands.

I’m hoping to find useful information here, as well as share my own experience and an interesting project I’ve just started. I’ve recently ordered a steel frame, and I’m planning to build it into a bikepark-oriented machine. I’ll be happy to share my progress along the way.

I'm new here, I got back into cycling in the last couple of years. I built my first Gravel bike up using a Planet X Ti frame and a few parts I sourced off the internet, it was at that time I first saw the stuff on Aliexpress and I bought a few odds and sods, that eventually led me to the likes of Tracevelo on YT and this forum was mentioned in one of the comments.

I'm about ready to build a carbon road bike and I am tempted to go with a Chinese frame so I'm looking for inspiration

Hello everyone. I’m a jack-of-all-trades with an electrical background, and I love tinkering with machinery and DIY. My main ride for 22 years has been a heavily-upgraded FELT F60 (practically a Ship of Theseus).
I’ve decided to take on my first Chinese carbon build to finally switch to a hydraulic disc setup.
My plan is to transplant the 11-speed Ultegra Di2 from my SpeedX Leopard Pro, keeping the total budget around $1,000.

I joined to learn from your shared wisdom for this puzzle. I hope to complete the build by the end of this year. Looking forward to connecting with you all.
