Advises for new road bikes build
« on: June 14, 2025, 07:07:49 AM »
Hello Guys,

I am planning on building 2 frames for my miss and I, something relax that doesn’t break the bank.

Her, 165cm, inseam 73cm
Me, 185cm, inseam 91cm

I know a lot of people are knowledgeable in the forum, and I believe all of you will be a good help to design the best bikes.

I have been reading the forum, as well as looking around in shops.

Frame
What I found that we like for the frame

SL8 is similar to:
-   Tantan x68 – with the sniffle
-   Tantan x70 – no sniffle (who cares?)
-   Spcycle-R088 – no sniffle (who cares?)

Flybike:
-   Flybike - FM6666 (similar to cervelo soloist in term dimensions)

Light Carbon
-   LCR017-D (similar to cervelo soloist in term of dimension)

XMcarbon:
-   CS-R01, but I found the frame a little too small for me, I wish there was a XL size

Cockpit

I would like to have the stem and the bar not integrated, so will check with the frame supplier or I will buy it separately

Groupset

For the groupset, I am not yet 100% sure, either 105 di2 or keep it budget friendly and go with Ltwoo ER9 or ERX. I like wheeltop as well but I feel there are more issues with them, especially in terms of random connection lost issues.

Wheels
I will check with Peter, Tagoola, Elite

Crankset

What would you recommend as a crankset brand?

Do you have any recommendation on the frame, maybe we missed some brands, that could be nice?

For the groupset, will you go ltwoo and keep it budget friendly or wheeltop, or shimano?

Any other advises we could have on these builds?

Thanks a lot all

I'm in the same predicament as you. I'm 188cm and 91.4 inseam.
I'm looking at all those same frames and have narrowed it down to 3.

Have you checked out the Long Teng LTK266-D-SL? Im trying to get them to make it in a size XL because it would be perfect! Wide T47, UDH hanger, 35mm tire clearance, and a beautiful transparent green paint job.

longtengalisa@163.com send Alisa an email if youre interested in it. Or help me get some traction for it to be made :)

I dont like the X68 bc it doesnt have UDH(the R088 does). I do like the speed sniffer bc I know its more aero and I do race my bikes.
The LCR017 doesnt have UDH either but it has T47 and I really like T47 for SRAM Dub cranks.
I do love the Speeders but they all have press fit bb and Dub doesnt do well with PF bb's
