Anyone have luck finding a direct mount hanger for the 168?


This set intended for a Cube looks like it could fit. Although the shape of each piece is the reverse of how VB's hanger is designed, it's the closest I think I've seen.

My frame arrived also right before christmas.

Painting was ok. Fork was obviously painted twice. Saw a different color below, FM points need to be cleared from paint. I asked for a pantone into raw carbon fade. Which they did not do completely. Every joint was coated black, so its just some carbon visible.

Started the build today... unluckily I need to stop as they forgot to put the compression ring into the package
Any advice for a suitable replacement which is commonly available?

I think any compression plug will be suitable. the diameter is standard, and carbon is carbon. Giant makes oversized steerers but that's niche. 99% of steerers have a standard diameter AFAIK. Obviously get something that will apply force in the right area given your spacers & stem. But that again is standard. if you re not bothered by weight get something tall rather than tiny. More clamping area = more load distribution = less likely to snap.

You are talking about the expander, I about the compression ring to center the fork and guide the brake/shifting cables

Ordered and got the tracking number a couple days ago. UPS still hasn't picked up the frame though (hopefully they pick it up tomorrow China time).

Went with the matte metallic navy blue like some others in this thread, going to build it up with a Force ETAP group and some Elite Wheels.

Any handy tools to buy other than the usual stuff? I just got a pressfit bb tool, and an offbrand bleed kit. I have all the allen keys/torque wrenches/grease/etc you could ever need.

One of the park tool (or other cheaper brands) internal cable routing kit will probably save some headaches.

I have a internal routing cable kit but found it much easier to route the cables with a brake cable following the techniques from this youtube video

On the website some R168s are marked with light and some aren't.
Does anyone know if there are actually different frame versions.
And what would be the difference for a size 56?
