I know venge knockoffs are either a hit or a miss, to which im assuming this guys making counterfeit ones? Im assuming these arent the real ones just being made on the side.

Yea, I'd be wary of any vendor openly selling under a brand name.
They are probably using the same open molds as anyone else, but the willingness to blatantly advertise as a brand lends itself to a certain level of dishonesty in business practices.  And you gotta ask yourself if this extends to their manufacturing processes as well.

If you are looking for a frame with Venge geometry, just go for the VB-R-099.
It is said to be modelled after the venge, although I've found the geometries do really match

BUT - If you are looking for a venge, note that Specialized has called the SL7 the "Venge Killer", and will be discontinuing the Venge in favour of the SL7.
If you want a frame based on the latest hype, go for the VB-R-168.
