I might see experiment with this once school is done for the year but wouldn't you be able to 3d print like a holder that attaches to the heart rate strap? Another way that my friend suggested was use hair clips and glue them onto the device kinda like these. Anyways we should make this a separate topic as it could be a good alternative to the core sensor.

Thank you for the idea, but I am hesitant to make a permanent change by glueing something since I am getting the elastic wristband soon, which will (hopefully) be my long-term solution.

Meanwhile, I think I figured out how to position the heart rate monitor strap so the thermometer stays in place more reliably (I have to pull it up quite far up; it is somewhat uncomfortable, but it works). Anyway, I can make a thread once I get to the final setup I am happy with. If anyone has some insight already, they should go ahead and do it sooner.

Got this long sleeve mesh layer for colder temperatures and it works well. Colder is for -15 to + 5 centigrades with one or two layers on top. My chest has a 102cm circumference and I am 193cm tall. Was unsure about the sizing here (I have a sleeveless version one size smaller which is a bit too tight). This one in 2XL/3XL works well. Arms could be a bit tighter. Arms are nicely long. Torso could be a bit shorter (!) but this way it also works as a hiking and skiing undergarment.

I have recently decided to try out heat training, but I wanted to avoid paying an absolute fortune for the CORE body temperature sensor. I instead decided to give this a go:

It is IP22 certified against water and dust, but I can also certify it against heavy sweating, at least after a few sessions. The app that is promoted with the product requires creating an account, and for some reason syncs everything to the cloud; I instead recommend using the Tempal app.

The only problem I currently have is figuring out how to securely attach it to my armpit. I am using the heart rate monitor strap for now, but it only works as long as I am not moving too much. I also just ordered an elastic hand band (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32833627238.html), which is going to take some time to arrive, but I think it should work much better. In the meantime, do you have any DIY ideas for how to attach the thermometer securely to my armpit?

The Core is unfortunately a bit all over the place in terms of measurements. It is consistently inconsistent, which makes it extremely unreliable. I work in a team where we have tested many units on some really high profile athletes, and the core simply doesn’t deliver what it promises. Which is far from ideal when you are dealing with an extremely stressful and potentially harmful stressor (at least if you get too hot). While I can’t say for sure, I really don’t see the armpit unit being much reliable.

The gold standard is of course ingestible telemetric temperature pills but they are far from budget friendly. The second best is probably a rectal thermometer… not very convenient but hey, what don’t you do for science…

I received Shimano compatible SUMC flattop chains and so far I'm impressed.
The packaging is premium, I really like how the chains look on the bike. I did a couple of rides so far and the chains are somehow super quiet with a ZTTO ultimate cassette.
I used shimano chains with those cassettes and the noise was unbearable, KMC was much better but SUMC is next level quiet. I use it with a newest generation of the Ultimate cassette so the new cassette design might also help.
Can't comment on the durability, will see if it lasts.

Buying these chains does not make a lot of sense though unless you really want flattop with a non-sram drivetrain since these chains are very expensive.

I use UNIOR ones, they are pretty good imho. Also pretty cheap.

The Schwalbe works best for me even for the hardest tyres to mount (Pirelli PZero Race RS TLR). With the three levers you can clip two into the rim and use the third one to get the tyre on the wheel.

Isn't the flattop chain design more durable at the expense of slightly more friction? I'm thinking of trying YBN chains since they seem to rate similar to KMC chains, but with slightly more durability when immersive waxed. I'm wondering if SUMC chains have improved in the meantime? Report back on durability. Thanks!
