Quote from: jonathanf2 on October 16, 2026, 11:33:55 AMI was shopping around last month for some low weight carbon wheels. I was considering sub-1kg wheelsets, but the cost difference seemed a bit ridiculous for a few extra grams. I found these Go4sporting wheels and thought they hit the cost-to-weight ratio decently. 50mm depth, 30mm wide, 23.9mm internal width wheels with 5.2mm carbon spokes. It took a month to ship and I weighed everything to 1140g total. Everything appeared true and well made. I already have some narrow depth climbing wheels, but I wanted something with more depth for those flatter sections.

Added photos fully mounted on my SPCycle R088.

i'm running the same wheels but laced with a bronze hub, all the other features and weight is identical. More than 1000km on them and the weight saving (coming from 1400g wheels) is noticeable
Mine comes with CSC strip sticker on the rim
Bought this summer for 380€ (shipped and no duties Italy)

For those still riding rim brakes, do you have any recommendations for carbon wheelsets with wider internal rim widths that can accommodate tires in the 40 mm+ range?

There is a new KORE RS-C50 (or RS-CSO), which has a 21 mm internal rim width, and I'm considering picking up a set for a few builds for next year.

Has anyone tried this KORE wheelset yet, or are there other wide internal-width rim-brake wheelsets you'd recommend for 40–50+ mm tires?

Steel is real. I ride Rivendell and old touring frames, and have been looking building a black mountain cycles monstercross frameset for next year. These frames use cantilever or v-brakes that can clear large 700c/29er tires. There are also a few caliper rim brakes with a larger tire clearance. Wide internal width aluminum rims are available to build up, but I was looking for an aliexpress/carbon alternative. Most of the aliexpress rim brake carbon wheelsets are 19mm internal width, which are great for road/allroad tires, but have a lightbulb balloon tire profile when paired with larger tires.

I will never understand why people dont like their brakes to actually stop them :) especially off road

LOL.  If you come from the roady perspective...  Brakes, I don't need no stinking brakes!  If you Come from a MTB DH perspective...  Oh Sh*t!  I can't friggin stop!  I need bigger brakes for this descent.  OTOH, Who who need to slow down when you have good berms..
