The seller's description is unfortunately contradictory. According to the description, 130mm hub wheels fit. However, the picture in the description says 142mm -0.5 or +1.5mm. I have now asked the seller why the data is contradictory.

It's a terrible idea to go for a fake bike and doubly so for one as proprietary and as complicated as the S5.

Confusion on the basics of the listing should also be a huge red flag.

Dolan is a farce of a brand. The 268 is an open mould. It's just that Dolan brands an open mould and calls it Dolan. You can put a "I'm hot" tee shirt on your mother, won't make her hotter.

No mention here of Mavic thru axles, hence begs the question if the Ares isn’t sourced from Long Teng? I know you’re very content with your frame but this doesn’t portray the 268 in a good light unless I’ve misunderstood something about the Ares frame.

The current Dolan Ares is a workswell WCB-R-390. The previous Ares was a Workswell WCB-R-268, which is the same frame as the LTK268-D, but with a different fork.

To ne honest even taking that into account, the Ares is still incredibly priced. You definitely wouldn't be able to put a full bike together for that even if workswell were willing to sell you a frame directly.

Dolan have always been more of a track bike brand and their track bike is absolutely legit.

On the other hand it would be incredible fun to ride a fake Cervelo or Dogma and be faster than rich dentists on their 12k Pinarellos. Who's laughing now b*tch?

I read comments like this a lot, smells like insecurity to me!

Ever since getting into bikes (I'm 50 and have ridden bicycles my whole life) there's always been a few people (both men and now women) in my group of cycling friends who are stronger than me and it's never bothered me (it is what it is?!).

One guy in particular is way stronger than me and most likely always will be. He's got 20+ bikes and all of them are old rim brake bikes between $1-2K AUD. He did have a go at me when I bought my $20K AUD S-Works SL8 Tarmac, and went as far as saying that "it's not about the bike, it's about the rider". I just about had enough of his negative attitude towards my choice of buying an expensive bike that I forced him to swap shoes with me at the cafe (we run different pedals) and insisted that he have a go.

He was literally blown away. So much so that he put an order in for a TanTan SL8 copy.

I'm sure he'll be even faster on his TanTan and I'm happy for him. TLDR: If you're blowing the wheels off people with much more expensive bikes then maybe you're just stronger than they are, and maybe you'd thrash them even harder if you had a bike more expensive than theirs? Who cares!

On topic: I've got a whole lot of "cheaper" Chinese branded parts on my genuine S5. I posted it up in a Chinese bicycle Facebook group and got bombarded with PM's asking me where I got the frame from  ::)  ;D

The whole point of an open mould is that it's open. My Grandma could start selling the frame, she just needs to find a supplier. I didn't watch the video but why would long teng be making frames for Dolan? I have seen the 268 on at least 5 OEM websites.

Please hit me up when Grandma starts her cycling brand!
