LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets

Aliexpress pricing is all over the place. There are many reasons for it.
Last summer i paid 350-360 eur for a er9 group with USBC chargin on the FD. I paid VAT / duties at customs (Ali transaction was 328 after coins, 60 eur coupon, and vat adjustment).
Sub 400 eur, it makes sense. North of that, get Shimano.

No doubt, that 530€ is a bit steep for the LTWOO Groupset, but as discussed previously, even on AliX the electronic part of a 105 (STIs, FD, RD, Bat) is 700€ and Ultegra 900€. The 200/400€ price difference is still quite significant Id say.

Good to know! Just received them as well, but as my battery holder decided to break apart I‘m currently waiting for a new one…


Thankfully support was quick to refund me the right amount of money needed for a new one, still incredibly annoying. Felt pretty tight to squeeze the batteries in, so they were probably too big but as they‘re the correct standard the fault lies at LTwoo for designing it too tight for their own chosen standard and not reinforing it enough…

Hopefully the new won‘t disintegrade as well

Aaaand another casualty , next battery holder broke even though I used the smallest 14500 I could find. Unsure what I will do next, but I‘ll either switch back to mechanical or try out the Wheeltop one. Either way I‘ll see what I can do to get a full refund on the group as I‘m so tired of this crap. It was working so damn well while it lastes (2-3 weeks or so…) but this is sich a dumb issue I just can‘t wrap my head arround how they can manufacture such an important piece so badly.  :'(

Hey erX/9/7 friends! I'm a happy camper with my old 2023 V1 and recent V3 eRX, and I'm considering putting eR7 on a couple new bikes I'm building for family members. FWIW, both my eRX groupsets easily and happily run 11-42t cassettes with 46/30 chainrings, which is a dramatic exceedance of the stated limits. I'm trying to determine if the eR7 RD's slightly altered geometry would prevent it from doing this, but in doing so, I discovered that there are multiple versions of this derailleur out there. Of course, eR7 is not mentioned anywhere on L-Twoo's official website.

One version of the eR7 RD has a long rearward protrusion behind the derailleur hanger from which the rest of the RD appears to hang, similar to a Shadow-style RD or the eR9/X RDs, but all one piece.

The other version of the eR7 RD has but a short connection to the derailleur hanger bolt, and looks like an entirely different geometry.

Some AliExpress listings show only one version, and some show both even in the same listing. None of them discuss or draw any distinction between the two variants.

Are any of you aware of these versions of the eR7 rear derailleur? If anyone owns either one, I'd love to see people chime in (I suppose, in my DMs is fine to avoid spamming the thread) with which one they have.

if you use the wrong sized batteries you can't really blame ltwoo. To be fair, 14500 lithium batteries are super niche, and there doesnt seem to be a clear standard. if you're not using exactly the right form factor, it wont work / it will break.
Taking a step back, it's the airlines regulations that are to blame, because 2 small batteries like that in their housing are never going to catch fire, but having to source such batteries locally is a major pain.

I wouldn't switch to wheeltop. i've had lots of problems with ltwoo, you should find the right batteries so you get to enjoy other ltwoo problems, not just battery ones. rear derailleur dying for no reason is a fan favourite, and i also enjoy having to change coin batteries in the shifters quite often, as well as the buttons not shifting properly, half because of the battery, half because the buttons stop working properly. There's also the questionable braking, half ltwoo s fault, half user error. My favourite part is when there's a mixed responsibility, so that you never quite know why you fix something when it's fixed, and you're never quite sure why something isnt working properly.
Enjoy, because when it's working, it actually works well. You learn to appreciate when it does

I believe this to be a recent addition but I do see eR7 listed - https://www.ltwoo.com/en/seriesItem?typeId=82&series=ER7

The official RD-ER1003-M-A picture seems to be your Version X Standard Cage. As for the mounting point, the eRX and eR9 pages say 'With B-Link' while eR7 is specified as 'B-Link: none'. I don't have any idea how this affects geometry, unfortunately.

I don't have a photo of my er7 right now but I can confirm that mine is the version x. I bought mine when er7 just released so it very well could be that they updated it. I would message the store directly and see if they can provide any info from their end.

yeah will see what I can do battery wise… got refunded for the holder and get a new one as well as some new 14500 that are even smaller (if I can find some with measurements). Read up on the whole Wheeltop thing and guess I‘ll just give LTwoo another go…

i have xtar 14500 Li-Mn 800mAh with not any uses in two ltwoo groupsets. cost about 5-7euros per piece and i can find it easy in shops in greece.
Make your life easy and buy what they've been recommending here for the past 3 years.

Is the eanywhere I can buy ONLY the right shifter (I'm inGermany BTW)?
I have not found it yet, they sell only the whole groupset......

Hi, today I was out on a bike ride and I got caught in the rain. My LTWOO ER7 derailleur, which I bought at the end of August, stopped working. It says 0% battery even when I charge it. The battery was at 87% before the rain. If I plug it in, the green LED stays solid as if the battery was charged, but the app still says 0%. Also, when I press the button on the rear derailleur, it flashes red.

I've already contacted the seller 318 Bike Store, LTWOO support, and AliExpress support, but I don't expect any kind of support.

Hi all,

Just received my ER9 groupset. Would anyone have any pictures of what the latest v3 ER9 groupset looks like?

The shift levers, FD and RD match the listing but the brakes are different. The brakes appear to be the BR-R07A-160R with front and rear mounting plates and when I go on the website the FD and RD are different to the Ali listing and the ones I received (as well as part numbers). When I connect the derailleurs to the app they come up at v2 ERX.

Sorry if this question has already been asked before, but I wanted to make sure I have the latest v3 kit and the brakes are the latest from Ltwoo.

Hi, I'm reviving this thread. The seller at 318 Bike Store had me do some testing these days. I sent all the videos, and now we're talking about him shipping me a replacement rear derailleur as soon as it arrives from ltwoo. Since I don't have an ER7, he'll send me an ER9, which he told me will work with ER7 levers. He'll also send me new cables. If it arrives and everything works, I think I'll use silicone to seal around the cables. The water could only have gotten in through there...
We'll see when it arrives, and I'll keep you updated.

whats Ltwoos warranty like?
seems like they are busy.
trace velo has gotten every iteration and had issues with each of them.
I dont know anyone who can afford to trial groupsets each time.
