LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets

Hi everyone, I'm updating the situation. The 318 Bike Store seller was truly excellent. He walked me through the issue step by step, having me do tests, and I sent him videos each time so he could show them to their technician. From the videos, he determined that the problem was the rear derailleur. He sent me a derailleur, and since they didn't have an ER7 in stock, he sent me an ER9, telling me it would be compatible with my ER7 levers. Everything arrived today, I mounted the derailleur, and everything started working great again. I'm thrilled to have resolved the issue, and I was lucky to find a reputable seller who provided me with the right technical support.

i just noticed gear protection no longer prevents shifting to the small chainring while in 11 and 12, i think it happened since they added back auto trim is this the same for everyone else?

Yes, I too can shift to the small chainring while on the smallest cog (1st generation ER9, latest firmware and app with both auto trim and gear protection set to 'on').

What is unacceptable is that Ltwoo just stopped making and offering repair parts for a groupset after 1 year. How anyone would continue to buy their products after doing that is beyond me. I won't purchase from them again knowing that if a part fails then I'm SOL because they couldn't care less about our market.
eRX parts are interchangeable. eRG is supposed to have longer shifters, so not compatible. BTW, EeRX shifters are also unavailable! Possible they eventually release more stock, but if not, Ltwoo needs to be widely denounced on forums like this so others don't fall into the same trap. It's a simple public service announcement (fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me).

This is exactly the issue with this manufacturer- not much confidence in them as stated following Trace Velo videos and he keeps pushing them even though he has had issues with every iteration they sent him.
As a customer you are left swinging in the breeze if anything(and lets be honest- if more than likely will) goes wrong.
nobody can afford to take a 500-600e punt and hope for the best!

Well, i try and warn anybody to invest in Ltwoo, but it is hard to keep up against a payed channel like tracevelo.
I think he is doing that fulltime, and clicks are money...i think it is hard to stay neutral then.

I agree. I would not buy electronic groupsets from LTWOO again. Good for you if the stuff keeps working. Good luck if it doesn’t. Can’t fault their mechanical groupsets, though. Ive put the 2x12 and 1x12 on several gravel bikes and they’re really quite good.

Last night I had a bike crash getting snagged by a dog leash from an old guy who wasn't paying attention. The old guy fell and the dog got spooked, but no injuries. My bike rolled and I tumbled. I came away with a few scratches and huge bruise on my rear. My eR9 groupset was a bit banged up, but it's still fully functional and I was able to clean up the scruffs on the RD. No damage to the shifters or any other components.

I'm fine with the LTwoo electronic groupsets. I'd actually pass on the LTwoo mechanical stuff. Better off using Shimano mechanical. Easier to adjust and tune.

If I could do it all over again, I would not go Ltwoo.
First Ltwoo group was mechanical gravel group GR9. Right shifter was defective on arrival and had to get a replacement sent. Eventually replaced the brakes for grx because a piston was starting to stick on warm days.
eGR was good until the first wash. Reset the mech and it seemed to work ok after drying out. Then the rear mech swing arm broke as I was loading it on my bike rack and had to find a replacement. All this cost way more than a new sram group would’ve cost.

Shimano mechanical is great. But the shifters just look awful. And looks are important with bikes IMO. Also the LTWOO stuff is dirt cheap and at least the Campy style levers seem absolutely bulletproof. On one gravel bike, I‘ve paired the 1x11 LTWOO brifters with a used GRX RD and the lightweight Zrace calipers from Aliexpress. That might just be my favourite combination yet.

As for electronic. In Europe, the earlier generation Sram AXS stuff is now ubiquitous and dirt cheap used. I got an entire Force AXS groupset (sans cranks) for something like 350 EUR on my latest build. I got a Rival AXS mini groupset for even less. Sure it’s used and not the latest. But not a scratch on it and working like new. At this point I really don’t see the point of Ltwoo.

The early version of GR9 was great with the multi shift ability. Supposedly the updated version can’t do that.

Did you reset the caliper pistons? That usually helps open up space. I actually prefer LTwoo fin brake pads. They were selling them cheap awhile back so I bought several pairs of them.

Is there anyone running the oversized pulley? I accidentally stripped the bolt hole on the standard ER9 derailleur cage and so had to get an oversized pulley cage replacement.

I'm running 50/34 and 11-34 Ultegra/105 and I'm having a problem where even after sizing the chain correctly and removing an extra set of link pairs, I'm getting a situation where on the largest cog (50 and 34) there is sufficient tightness in the chain/derailleur, but when I run the smallest cogs (34 and 11) the chain is completely slack. I know typically this isn't a combination that you're advised to run, but just want to make sure I haven't set up my kit wrong.

Any advice/feedback would be helpful.

I use a cotter instead- easier, no stripping the head worries and works just fine.  I’ve always subbed in a cotter with brakes which is why I was at first confused about why there would be a problem!
