LCFS948 - a new enduro from Light Carbon
« on: September 17, 2023, 04:28:29 AM »
Light Carbon makes the best frames I have built with and the enduro frame LCFS947 is a favorite of mine. The only drawback is that it cant take long dropperposts, the insert is short.

Now there seems to be a new and very interesting enduro frame on the way from Light Carbon, the LCFS948. What are your thoughts about that frame?

Looks like a loose copy of the suspension system used by SCOR bikes.

It does look similar the Scor 4060. Which was on my list when I was looking to replace my 947. Looks cool.

I like the modern geo and a new interesting bike. For me the VPP suspension is a wildcard. I hope it's well done and fun to ride.

To me, the suspension being overly complex is not a plus. I just want poppy progressive rear suspension.

This bike is very long, but I'd want to overfork it anyway

wondering if they didn't do the design or manufacturing for scor?

I don't think that is likely. Scor was founded by bike designers  breaking away from another company. Also, the front triangle, rear triangle and the shock linkage are different with light carbon frames being more boxy in general.

More likely, the VPP design is free to copy and Light Carbon already has experience building bikes with suspension running through forked seat tubes.

Yes, it's the same design as LCE971, The rear triangle have some adjustment on the RC length, and the front triangle is adjusted to the shape of the MTB.
attached two photos, one is completed bike of LCE971, another is LCFS948 on designing,

Chiner frames gets cooler/better every year, bet this thing rides amazing.. Only thing that bugs me is the height of the toptube joint with the seat post, i think enduro frames should have a more aggressive look with lower standover height, but thats just looks.

I know people have called out the scor 4060 as a possible clone but doesn't Santa Cruz have a bike just like this too?  I think the mega tower looks identical

You might look to book an appointment to get your glasses checked, Jeff.

That was the issue.  After my visit I noticed the linkage was different.   ;)  That tucked shock and rear triangle had me fooled.

Is there an ETA on this frame? Spec sheet?

Been on my 947 for almost two years now and a 917 for a year and they’re fantastic. This looks like a welcome addition.
