I think the more expensive ones genenrally are more robust. I run a bike shop and we have a hydraulic bike stand. It is overkill but definelty better than a standard workstand. At home I have a really basic one which was about £50 and is great. As long as you can lift your bike from the ground, doing work is much much easier. That stand should last you a long time and you'll be glad to have got it ;)

added the tool purchase list for a first time builder like me.

Regarding the frame, apparently some production delay. I have been looking at a few alternatives and may move to one of these should  a good deal come up in during the 11/11 sales almost tempted to move to a 100-120mm full suspension but it moves the budget up quite a bite, at least another $500

I'm excited to see what deals can be had from 11/11. I've got my eyes on EDS shifter/derailleur but looking for a spare frame as a "just in case". Its a shame you don't have the frame yet, I'd loved to have seen it in case its comes up on 11/11 sales.

Quick update, on the wheels. After many messages exchanged with Leao @Yuan an, pretty settles on a set on wheels with UD mat, M14 ratchet, wing20 spokes. That’s a really lightweight option, a bit more expensive that I was planning to spend (much higher specs) so waiting on 11.11 discount in frame to settle in that choice, budget permitting.
Leon has really been awesome to deal with, if the ordering and shipping is as painless, it will be a strong recommendation from me.

Got the M06 frame in L in the 11.11 sales, got a nice 88$ discount all in all, pretty pleased. also ordered a syncros fraser handlebar

Edit: first post now updated with the new links and prices. Now the wait starts for wheels and frame…

Same. I ordered in L and havent received updates. I contacted them around 16th of December and they mentioned that the bottom bracket was too loose on the first batch of frames.

First batch had that issue, 2nd batch was oversold so they requested some to delay order, which I accepted, now the third batch has been produced and in paint last week from what I was told. I am not really in a rush so I don’t mind but next time I’ll probably buy from someone that has stock rather than made to order just to satisfy my impatience

Nice to see that the frame found its market though!
