Magene P505 PES Base Spider Powermeter

Reset it with the magnet trick. Somewhere here, maybe in my first post. Had that one a few bikes to.

Did that but still no readings on the BC. Had to do a factory reset of the BC and reset of the PM as only the reset showed readings in the magene app.

Hope no one has this issues but if some one has, this was the trick with me.

For anyone that might also be wondering, I have installed this pm on my gravel bike (Curve Kevin) with external t47, 1x grx, and a passquest chainring. Took me a while to figure out which chainring to go with, many have 3mm offset, which i did not want running grx 1x. This setup results in a ~47mm chainline, close to the native GRX one of 47.5.

Very happy with this pm (and 165mm cranks), ive purchased a p515 for the road bike now.

I'm probably one of the last buyers of the P505, as the P515 was released two days after I bought it.

Anyway, it just arrived and now I stand here wondering where the hell I get a BB tool that I can use with a torque wrench.
Or, is it just OK to do it by feel?

Generally ok at first, then it squeaks and then bearings need replacing which is nbd.   Birzmann, wheels, wolftooth etc all make tools for bsa and t47 with a 3/8” socket attachment.  Get as deep a one as you can.   Or just bring the frame to a shop, Id check the torque for you for free probably.

I use a universal wrench extender like the one below and reduce the torque wrench setting in proportion to the extra length.

Hi all, did anyone ever find a solution to the creaking problem? Especially with 105 rings, though I've tried with ultegra rings and have the same problem.

Any solutions?

I know, but I already have PM and TEO is 29 mm spindle. Would be better for me to have 24 Ti.

My P505 (3 bolt version) spider PM died. I rode for two weeks in super wet and rainy conditions in the Alps. Partially in horrible downpours. Also, I forgot my charging cable so I rode until the PM battery died. And when it did, the power readings went all over the place. First they were way too low. Then way too high. Until it turned off.

After I recharged it, may head unit displayed no power whatsoever. I can connect the device to my Smartphone. But calibration only returns an error warning. The crank rewind calibration doesn’t work either.

I contacted Magene to see what they say. But my hopes aren’t too high. I bought it in April 2023, so it’s out of warranty. I’ll keep you updated.

Did you try the "magnet reset" procedure? It's a bit of a long shot but that did bring back many devices from seemingly dead states before. Might as well give it a try if you haven't so far.

Just received my crankset/power meter set. During registration I was notified of the software update and started the process. While updating my phone went to sleep. I woke it back up and had to “manually” finish the update.  But after the update-I wasn’t able to connect to the unit with my phone. Doing the magnet reset fixed it all.

For anyone who needs to know how to do a magnet reset — pop the charger on the unit and plug it back in. While plugged in, bring a magnet and hold it just above the charging light (with the Magene logo reading normally) till the light blinks a couple times. That should take care of it.

I reset the PM successfully, apparently. It reset the firmware to v0.0 - but that didn't help unfortunately.
Zero calibration still returns an error, which makes me think that there's something physically wrong with it.

Magene have not answered to my mail. Hopefully they will.
