Has Magene stopped selling their stand alone P505 power meter spider? I can't seem to find it anymore. I guess they're more focused on selling the P515 PM/crankset and their PM pedals at a much higher price premium.

I should have bought more when they were selling them for cheap. It's so convenient to use it on a variety of cranksets!

Between $200-225 USD during discount sales. That was buying it with a ZRace 29mm axle crankset as well. The big perk is being able to use it with any 3 bolt crankset and either 4 bolt or 5 bolt 110 BCD chainrings. Flexibility was the big selling point.

Update on my issues with my Magene P505:

I went back and forth with the Official Magene Store on Ali and with the Magene Support via email. They suggested trying the reset procedure. Nothing worked. It kept delivering an error when trying to calibrate it.

Eventually the support told me that they checked my serial number and that the device is out of warranty. They think that the strain gauge is malfunctioning. If I wanted to have it repaired, I’d have to pay for shipping and repair services. I can’t really blame them. I bought the device in 2023. It still sucks, though. Obviously I would have expected it to not just die all of a sudden. But stuff that lasts is bad for business, I guess.

I m having a similar issue with my p505 too. Calibration doesn't happen all the time and I have to click calibration 2 or 3 times before it happens.

Power measurements seem fine, on par with my other pms

if you buy the 515 with chainrings are they 12s compatible?

I have put Wuzei 4 Bolt 110 BCD Chainrings on my Magene P505 while i am waiting for my frame so i can build it all together:
Does it run without any problems or should i get other chainrings while waiting for the frame? I am asking because the Wuzei ones dont have any chaincather(?) on them so i am not 100% sure if ther might be problems. Also because i am a bit sad i didnt get the 505 with it's original chainrings - because on a second guess those look kinda cool.

I had a  Wuzei chainring : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008844119020.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.e64018024ZfFBL , but it did not run cleanly, there was a weird feeling, and noise, I was worried so I bought another Pass Quest one, and the problem was gone, so I don't recommend it. I was using it with a 12spd chain 1by, Wheeltop GEX with 13spd cassette.

Found this on the internet, I have this same problem and friends to.. with +- 5 units now.
Are there more people here and anyone found a solution? Below 300w the noise are rare for us but when doing longer blocks above 300w it gets worse and worse.

Original preload bolt or the second one (which I think is the same as the P515 version)?

My P505 (3 bolt version) spider PM died. I rode for two weeks in super wet and rainy conditions in the Alps. Partially in horrible downpours. Also, I forgot my charging cable so I rode until the PM battery died. And when it did, the power readings went all over the place. First they were way too low. Then way too high. Until it turned off.

After I recharged it, may head unit displayed no power whatsoever. I can connect the device to my Smartphone. But calibration only returns an error warning. The crank rewind calibration doesn’t work either.

I contacted Magene to see what they say. But my hopes aren’t too high. I bought it in April 2023, so it’s out of warranty. I’ll keep you updated.

Dealing with the same issue. After some days riding in a rainstorm (although I did dry the bike off afterwards), the calibration results are always between 35 and 50, leading to the results being rejected. Via AliExpress, I was given the same instructions as you to reset and everything. Nothing has worked so far. I guess you really gotta be careful not to ride in too wet conditions with this PM.
