Hi, I would like to use this derailleur in a 1x configuration—meaning without a front derailleur.
I have a couple of questions:
1) Is this feasible, and will the rear derailleur work correctly on its own?
2) Can the button on the left-hand lever be assigned to a different function (for example, acting as a bell, if I'm using an iGPSport BSC500)?

Thank you

Any reason why you'd prefer the EDS TX RD over the GEX RD instead since that one is made for 1x?

How big is the weight difference? Carbon shifters are available for GEX, plus the GEX RD has more cage size options.

because i'm not confident about 1x configuration. the total weight, considering the chainring and cassette, is the same.

I think you can run EDS TX without the FD. I've seen some vendors just selling the groupset without the front derailleur. I'm not sure about button configuration though.
