I would call that the aliexpress paradox. Shipping is very complex, confusing and opaque, but unless you use aliexpress (or other retail platforms like banggood & the likes), shipping even an envelope from China to the west will cost at least 20$, afaik. I do think that large players like Yuanan / Elite have volume deals and can offer better shipping terms, but if you contact a seller on alibaba and want to get even a sample, it's basically 20-30$ per kilo for shipping, and the first kilo is whole.

Generally, i'd say that 25/33% of aliexpress prices are shipping costs, but the fact that aliexpress ships $10 orders across the planet is incredible. textbook example of economy of scale & volume ordering.

Yes, agreed. The Choice shipping thing is a mystery to me. They can obviously make it work, but must get some crazy volume discounts to pull it off.

Hi all, I have a problem that I can't resolve with my wheeltop eds rd. I hope someone can help me. I manage to setup the rd properly without load. However, whenever i'm on gear 4 on the road, the chain will drop to smaller gear 3 on bumpy roads (but the system is still on gear 4). On smooth roads, it works just fine. There isn't much play on the mounting bolt....is there something wrong with the motor?

So far, I've had a pretty bad run of luck with the EDS-TX. Learnings so far:
- There's an adjustment screw on the underside of the derailleur that I found difficult to find - a case of RTFM that had me trying to get in and out of the adjustment mode multiple times before I could get my calibration in.
- Once the calibration was dialled in, it worked pretty smoothly - but I found that re-entering the adjustment mode would reset and throw out any calibration I had done. Solution: Take screenshots of the adjustments dialled in to the app.
- Accuracy seemed to be way worse shifting down the cog than shifting up it.
- The FD fine adjustment bolt is soft as butter and stripped using a Parktools ball-headed allen key that was barely used. There's no way to adjust the FD in the app without Wheeltop unlocking the function.

At about 350km of riding, I had a fall - my derailleur hanger seemed to be true, but that didn't stop the groupset from having a nasty run-in with my wheel that resulted in the derailleur experiencing a case of rapid unexpected disassembly, with the body shearing off between the battery and the mech. The mounting holes look like they've sheared in half. Given how the accident happened, I'm not hopeful of it being treated under warranty.

But - the Wheeltop site shows a derailleur replacement (for $390 USD) - I could swear that it's gotten $75 USD cheaper overnight - on pre-order, with a wait of up to 45-days. I have attempted to contact support via the app, email, and the website chat, but have had no response in 2 days. Has anyone had any luck ordering a replacement, and was there a long wait? Are there any chances of me scoring a discount on a replacement given the failure mode if I wait to hear back from support?

If the choice is between waiting 45-days for this product, which has kind of given me hell so far, and biting the bullet and switching over to SRAM, I'm beginning to think it's time to switch.

Thanks for this... probably irrelevant given that Wheeltop support seems to be next to non-existent anyway, but would products from XZX be covered by Wheeltop's warranty? Given other experiences, I wouldn't be comfortable with not being able to make a future claim.

Also, I noticed an Easter Egg on their site! Most of the images of cyclists outside of the product pages have non-Wheeltop groupsets fitted :D

May I know how to remove it? I tried using a circlip pick but couldn't find the catch.

Easily removed.  Material sure is a soft aluminum...   (Pics for your viewing pleasure.)

There's a third party app available on the Facebook wheeltop users page-the apps url is    https://dreds.jeckyll.net/

You'll need a pc with bluetooth or an android phone. It will also run on an iphone but you'll need an app named WebBLE to allow the use of websites that access bluetooth. Also, Google Chrome. May need to tinker with eliminating or disabling other browsers.

But its great in that it 1) allows you to name and save configurations after fine tuning (awesome if you have a couple wheelsets) 2) seperates out race mode from sleep so you can have faster shifting and still have sleep mode 3) allows fd fine tuning of both initial positions and trim positions 4) allows you to turn off the "protection" that blocks the smallest 3 rear cogs in the little ring  and 5) if you connect it to the group and leave it minimized, it stays connected so that you can use it on the road without an internet connection, unlike the standard app-you can also do this preconnect with the standard app but it runs phone gps and really sucks down the phone battery.

based on my experience, to reply to emails they are not fast (also 1 week or almost). But on WeChat they always replied very fast for technical questions (but they reply in chinese)
