Having had the ONIRII pedals for half a year or so, I switched back to a pair of (cheap) shimano pedals and I gotta say, the shimano ones just feel better. I had the same problems with the ONIRII as others and I honestly can't recommend them. I tried them with the included cleats (not great), but not garmin cleats. I might try the LFZ ones, but I'm not in a rush until I solve a fit issue that keeps me from being able to do rides longer than an hour.

Anybody have any semi-long term experience with the LFZ spd sl pedals (carbon and Ti)?

I use them for about 10 months now. Still using them with the proprietary cleats they arrived with. Compared to my old PD-R550 they feel a bit more "free" as it seems to me they have a bit more float. But I am no expert, that’s just how it feels to me. But other than that, I like them a lot. You are pretty locked in, they do not move. I am no sprinter, but when I try some out of the saddle sprints, they feel rock solid.

I have the Onirii pedals. They are light, and felt great when I first got them. Yes, they had to have been packed with grease because they did not self level as quickly as I would like. Then one side (right side) started to really open up, and the other didn't. So I tried taking the nut off the right one, and kinda stripped it using a regular box end wrench. What I figured out was that 1. I needed to use a 17 socket. AND 2. This is the most important thing, the right pedal is backwards threaded, just like the spindle, so it would have never come off going the way I was trying. I was able to take the entire spindle out of the pedal and am currently servicing it. When I first started riding them, I was over 200lbs, and never had an issue.

When I THOUGHT I had ruined them, I bought the other set, the raceworks: http://aliexpress.us/item/3256806196965435.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.59.531a1802laRgsz&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa. They are fine too, just a little heavier but same play and action.

I always had ridden the Speedplay pedals, but thought I would give the SPD pedals a try. Six of one, half dozen of the other. They are all just pedals.
