Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201

Just received my tideace frame on Friday - matte black, all looks nice and only took 2 or 3 weeks to arrive.

But just now I went to put the seatpost in the frame, and it's ridiculously tight. I managed to twist it in about 5cm, I've tried without carbon paste first, then with.

Anyone else had this?

I put a elita one in and it fit perfectly, vernier shows the tideace post is about half a mm wider. Maybe it’s the black paint? I’ll sand it carefully see if I can try it in.

Finally finished and tested my first ever build. Rode only about 100 km yet, but like it really much.

The total weight with pedals and all the cages and mounts is about 8.5 kg. However, the wheels are quite heavy at 1700+ grams. Planning to build two other sets for road and gravel. Must be close to 8 kg with the road rubber and still about 8.5 kg with some fatties.

The total price is a little more than $1900, except wheels, tires and pedals, which I already had. Most of the components (except chain, tires and pedals) are from Aliexpress, Taobao and other Chinese marketplaces.

I'm 177 cm with 81.5 cm inseam, and size 54 frame with 8 cm stem fits perfectly.

Thanks to everyone on this topic for tons of useful info. And thank you @KopytoNieBladzi for the color scheme inspiration. The handlebar tape might seem a little bit odd on the photos, but it looks so much better in real life, in combination with blue brakes and bolts. Some other blue accessories are already in the shopping cart.

Some component notes:

The ultralight (303 g) 9-51t cassette works flawlessly so far. Had to screw in the tension bolt a little bit more to tension the chain properly on the 9t cog.

P515 crankset requires 2 mm of spacers to fit on the frame. It would work with 1 mm too, but some sand and dirt can cause rubbing. I also added 1 mm spacer on the left crank for balance. There is enough crankshaft length for that.

At first I bought a 44t chainring with 3 mm offset (Wuzei), but it didn't fit. The space between the chainring and a chainstay was a little bit more than 1 mm (with 2 mm of spacers on the crank). I ended up with 40t no-offset chainring.

ZRACE brakes work well but don't blow my mind, considering that this is 4-piston brakes on (kind of) road bike. The pads are squeaking as hell, will change them.

I went on the maiden woyage of my TanTan gr201 today and have to confess that the handlebar combo is very soft and has quite a lto of flex. Is that normal? Should i be woried?

Made some changes to my gr201

Lexon unox cockpit cracked --> Deda superbox stem with Balugoe handlebar, works like a charm now
My 45mm Zen carbon wheels had some issues, but they sended me new ones free of charge! Went with the 50mm now
My xcadey powermeter broke, so changed to garbaruk direct mount chainring with assioma mx1 power pedals

Really happy with the bike now!

I got fm296 size 560 from mondince - but the seat tube doesn't go all the way in (there are height markings on the seat tube. It gets stuck at 230). Is this expected? I'm thinking of cutting the tube, but there is some sort of a friction layer on the seatpost, plus I don't really want to cut it if it's supposed to fit

Any ideas?

Hi folks!
I'm going to set up my first gravel bike in near future. This frame seems interesting for me, but after tones of reading posts, making excel tables I'm still knowing nothing about which frame size should I choose.

I'm 181cm height with 88-89 inseam and 184 arm span. After some research I'm mostly decide to 56 size. Is anyone here that has similar inseam and this frame size?

Now I'm riding on MTB bike with 450 reach and 626 stack, TT=630mm and don't feel comfortable after longer rides.

Is GR201 good geometry choice - wanna something between upright position and race style . 

PS. Could anyone who has 56 frame, set the saddle on 79cm height from BB and measure the distance from ~center of saddle to handlebar?    I'd be really apreciate a photo showing these set

I'm also hunting for a frame and using CAD to help me; here's a diagram with your numbers. The center-of-saddle-to-handlebar number is 72.26cm (the grey figure at top near the mouse pointer).

This makes a few assumptions:
- 110mm stem, 7 degrees
- 80mm saddle-to-handlebar drop (with those numbers you'd have 75.6mm of exposed steerer tube (the grey number on the far right))
- infinitely thin saddle; since most saddles aren't that thin, your saddle will sit a little further forward, so shave off a few millimeters from the 72.26cm number

With a 90mm stem your reach would be 70.16cm (again, slightly less in actuality) but you'd have almost 80mm exposed steerer tube.

Ideally, you'll want to know your saddle-to-handlebar reach and your saddle-to-handlebar drop (in addition to your saddle height) and then begin your search for a frame from there.

I'll check my present settings on MTB  but at glance it seems quite agressive position for me - esspecially  saddle/handlebar high differemce.

Probably I should find another frame with some little bit higher head or stack and higher angle of saddle tube. Carbonda CFR707 looks more comfortable.

Yeah, there are plenty options to choose from, it just takes some patience to find the frame that suits you best. From the models I looked at, the LightCarbon LCG071/LCG074 geometry seems quite relaxed.
