Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201

just finished my tideace build. pictures coming soon.

has anybody the 3d print file for this adapter?
i tried to contact the user but he didnt answer...

I'm also hunting for a frame and using CAD to help me......

Inspired by Chiyou i draw the comparisson Tideace GR201 vs Carbonda CFR 707 which I thought is more comfortable, but differences are not as much as I thought by just compared this frames in Bike Insight or simmilar sites...
 
Good that I've checked this because I was almost ordered Carbonda but as I see the seat post is very long - 285mm to top of saddle so I probably need longer seatpost? The bending moment in seatpost mounting point will be much bigger in Carbonda than in Tideace so it's not good in longterm use and carbon frame... 

The reach from saddle to aproximate handle point is about 15mm difference in this 2 frames, I'm not sure if that really matters?

Any suggestions?

If this is the measure of interest, you should consider, that Carbonda is using an offset seatpost whereas tideace is using zero offset. So it should come out the same.

Yes, minimum insertion length for seatposts is usually in the 80 to 100mm range. Please note though that the Tideace situation isn't much better as their supplied seatpost is likely too short for your needs (their web page says 300mm).

My thinking regarding the bending moment and resulting stresses is that 400mm seatposts are readily available for purchase and that at least reputable manufacturers will have done the appropriate analysis and testing. And speaking generally, carbon fiber has good fatigue performance (assuming stresses are low enough). Everyone's terrain, weight, risk tolerance, access to Uber or medical care are different, of course. And I should highlight the appropriateness of your user name here.

One additional comment: a longer seatpost may actually be more desirable from a suspension standpoint.

About the reach question, you can always compensate with a longer/shorter stem (just as long as you aren't at the extremes to begin with); it may require some experimentation.

On the Road with the Gravel

Finally got my tideace on the road today for a quick blast to bed the brakes in. Weighs in at ~8.5kg with cages, pedals and computer mount which I was quite impressed with. Build was pretty straight forward, worst part was the supacaz tape that has no stretch or give - never again. I'll stick to my normal Prologo plaintouch next time. I also had to chuck the seatpost that came with the frame as it was a fraction too wide and wouldn't fit in the seat tube, even with some light sanding.

Frame: 56cm matte black Tideace - normally I ride 58cm but the reach of the 58cm looked too long - glad I did. 3d printed front mech cover cheers @n3wman

If it is already scratched you can use some color or just black to create a contrast. But the first thing I do on every frame is foil on chainstay, downtube and seattube.

Anyone using Tailfin Bags on their 54 frame? Currently looking for upgrading my bikepacking setup using this frame, but I'm unsure which bags - in particular frame and top tube bag - would be the best fit. Thanks in advance!

A new headset will not solve the issue as the Tantan uses proprietary spacers. I dont think there is any other C ring available that will fit this handlebar.

 

if you’re having headset play just use a 1mm spacer between the compression ring and the topcap. Problem solved

What compression ring did you use so that the Superbox headset wouldn't cause any issues?

I just got back from the bike shop; I asked them to install the stem and a new set of handlebars, and I'm livid... He didn't use the Superbox headset and spacers but the ones that came with the frame instead. When I asked him why he left it like that, he told me the compression rings weren’t compatible. I thought I read here that it wasn’t a problem, though (using the bearings that came with the frame).

I want to check myself but don't want to bleed the brakes again...
