somebody on the x68 thread posted these bearings as a replacement for the x68, but since on tantan website it says they are the same size on gr201, will they fit on the gr201 too?

Anyone running a short stem (or short stem/bar combo) on this frame?

I looked at the geometry and feel like I could do both 560 and 580. Never had a gravel bike so my road bike is all I have to compare with.
Currently I'm on the latest Supersix Evo size 58 with 100mm stem and 90mm bar reach.

For the GR201 I'd like the 58 for the stack (so I can slam it more or less) and to avoid toe overlap (size 47/48 shoes and plan on running wide tires). Don't know if toe overlap is a huge issue with how long this bike is but anyway, a concern.

So to replicate the position I could just do 10-15mm shorter stem/bar combo on the GR201-frame, which I guess is no problem. But then again I don't know if I should even sit as long on a gravel bike generally. If I end up wanting to go shorter reach I'm concerned running a 70mm stem or something will make the bike handle weirdly.

I am running a size 56 with 80 mm combo and doesn‘t feel weird at all. Long reach, short stem is a quite up-to-date combination for race gravel,  e.g. Canyon Grail.

with a 42T ring
but it feels quite rough when in the largest cassette (50t), the chain looks to be quite twisted in this setup compared to when its in the 11t.

on paper the front and rear chainline numbers are off by about 3cm! but I can't change the back obviously, and all I could do on front is try mount an 3mm offset ring to bring the chainring more inboard to make the chainline straighter on the big cassette

I threw out the page with my measurements on it, but from memory, the front was 48mm or so, the rear 76ish

took bike for quick 2km spin around the block,  couple of things needed to be tightened out adjusted but feels lovely so far.  hoping to get a couple of hours on it tomorrow see how it really feels.  and see how the large cassette feels when climbing

Build complete,  about to take on shakedown ride in the Dublin mountains. crept to 9.0kg despite trying to stay as light as possible . Longteng gv201, 35mm wheels from Peter, sram axs mullet setup, panaracer gravelking x1 45mm tyres

Update after shakedown.
Hate hate hate the bartape I used, will be replacing it before next outing. Had to rotate bars away from me, so will need to reposition shifters as a result. Otherwise loving it so far, though taking a bit of time to get used to the AXS compared to mechanical - am used to one lever doing both up-and-down shifts on the cassette. Couple more tweaks to position and all should be good I think.

Is it just me, or is the downtube storage a bit tight? I was hoping/planning to 3dprint a mount for under the cover to hold a co2 cartridge/inflator/tubeless darts, and leave the bag in the storage for other stuff like multitool/TPU tube etc, but I don't think that'll be at all possible....

Hey guys, I need some advice from you. On my GV201, I used a Senicx PR3 2x crankset with a 30-46t chainring setup, but the problem is it has a Q-factor of 151mm. I need a wider Q-factor. Do you have any ideas for something that costs about the same as the Senicx and is just as well-made?

I considered using pedal spacers, but they only partially solve the problem. The main issue is that the crank arm passes very close to the front derailleur when it's in the longest gear.

Hey folks,

Finally finished going through this thread and thought I’d sign up and share my build.

I’ve ordered GR201 from TanTan about 3 weeks ago now, still waiting for shipment. I guess they must be mega busy these days as it seems it was faster earlier in the year. I don’t mind waiting as I had previously ordered a Titanium frame from another company that took so long I gave up and demanded a refund, but that’s another story!

I’m about 187cm with 85cm inseam. Decided to go with size 540 as I noticed reach is pretty long on these frames and it’s closest to my current road bike, though stack is a lot lower so I’ll most likely need spacers.

It’s my first ever build and can’t wait to get stuck in. Wanted to build my own bike for ages and it’s been fun slowly building up the parts which are:

Full Shimano GRX 1x12 10-51
Alugear 46T chainring (last thing I need to order)
Hunt Gravel 35 wheels
Schwalbe G One RX pro 700X50
Enve cockpit (headset/stem/bar) - yea this one stung but I wanted to invest in a decent cockpit

Thank god for AliExpress as I’ve picked up pretty much all the tools from there plus all the little bits and bobs you need.

Only thing I might not do is cut the steerer as I don’t want to screw it up and have to buy a saw/blade/vice for literally a 2 minute job.

you'll have to cut the steerer, otherwise a) it will look absolutely awful with that much sticking up above the stem - I've taken about 6cm off mine as a first pass, leaving about 1.5 or 2 to play with, but will ultimately end up with it level with the topcap. and b) I don't know if you will get a compression plug long enough to go deep enough to ensure the stem is clamped around it.

Only other alternative is to have it look like one of those long-necked karen-women and have the spacers under it but will still look absolutely  awful.
