Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201

Yeah, I had everything pre prepped and ready for the build. Chain stripped and waxed, Wheels with tires, cassette and rotors fitted etc.

First ride was good. Mechanical shifting exceeded my expectations, the new 12 speed GRX is so much smoother than my 11s.

Only problem I had was the seat tilting when I hit a bump hard, tightened it down and back in business.

Overall I must say I cannot be happier with the build, the bike feels solid. The 46T chainring is definitely too big for some of the climbs but that should change in the next week or so.

which bottom bracket would you recommend? I actually wanted to buy Shimano Hollowtech T47, but it's sold out everywhere here. Is there a good one on AliExpress?
Oh, and it should be 24 mm for a Riro crank.

Build now complete.

Took exactly 80 days from date of order to arrive at my front door.

Build includes;
GR201 Size 52.
Shimano GRX 1X12 Mechanical.
SLX 10-51 Cassette.
Magene P515 Cranks with Wolftooth 46T chainring. Had to install a 1mm spacer on the drive side to prevent the spider from binding on the frame.
Elite SLR 38mm Gravel wheels.
Schwalbe G-One RS wheels (45mm).
YBN 12s gold chain.

From my parts bin;
Shimano SPD pedals, well used.
Specialized Avatar Saddle.

Chainring has about 2mm clearance at the chain stay.
Will be replacing the 46T with a 42T once it arrives.


Will take it for a shakedown ride in the the morning.

Well, my frame has obviously arrived. I am having some wheels built up with some Serenade Wavy Rims I bought. These should be ready this week. But the biggest holdup now is the handlebars - I really wasn't happy with the look of the bars that came with the bike so I have ordered some Lexon Unox. When these arrive I can get the build finished off and post some piccys.

Well, i somehow cracked my Lexon Unox this weekend while doing the most basic wheelie on the road. Heard a light "crack" after landing the front wheel, thinking it was just the seapost creaking.
Only saw it at home while cleaning with the microfiber catching on the crack. It looks superficial, probably just the top coat but safety first: tossed the bar in the part bin.

Ordered a full Deda DCR system : Superbox 100mm + Deda alloy Gravel bar in 380mm + DCR Headset.
Hydraulics rooted internally thru the stem and bar, both shifting cables underneath the stem and it looks pretty neat i must say.
I used the 35x45° compression ring (the grey one sold with the superbox stem) for a minimal gap between the top bearing cover and frame. The 45x45° compression ring made too big of a gap for my liking.

Looks less cooler than the one piece combo, but on the upside: no more headset play at all and everything is stiffer and pretty bomb proof now. Won't break that with my whole 65kg anytime soon lol

yeah i got my 3mm offset 42T yesterday and installed it, seems to be slightly less noisy and feel less resistance in biggest cassette when moving the pedals on the stand.
Off for a 100km gravel race on Saturday, my comeback goal following ruptured achilles surgery back in Feb, signed up the day after surgery. Fingers xxd me and the bike both be in one piece come sat evening!

Can you explain in more detail what stuff I need and what I need to consider?

I don't have the GR201, but current bike has clearance for 48T chainring, so I'm hoping I can fit a 44/46T.
What 3mm offset chainring did you buy? Are there many options out there?
Also the 1mm spacer, where is it?

the 1mm spacer I had in my parts bin, you just need any 1mmx24mm Crank arm spacer

For the 1x12s GRX, get your GRX Shifters and Rear Derailleur. Make sure you get a Shimano original Cassette 10-51 on a Shimano Microspline freehub. The cassette is super important to get right if you want smooth shifting.

If you want a 44/46T Chainring dont get the 3mm offset unless you are willing to add more spacers on the crank arm. 0 Offset 44 or 46 works but the chainline is not ideal
