Hi guys ! Any fix for creaking noise in BB when loading
I removed the crankset, pedals, greased everything.
It worked for about 200 km. Now the creaking is coming back when pushing hard.
Do you recommend removing the BB or replacing it all ?

are you certain it's coming from the BB? sometimes creaking sounds under load can actually be occurring at the saddle clamp and/or seat post clamp. what brand BB are you using - it's unusual for a decent BSA BB to be creaking.

What SPDs do you use? Shimano can be noisy from the pedal body if you have had them for some time. I have serviced SPDs because of this only to find that the noise persists and end up getting new SPDs

As gbrnole mentioned, have all these areas been greased properly? If you follow the SL8 manual, there are lots of areas that need greasing that people might not necessarily do.

I would be surprised if it a BSA BB myself, but the BB should be torqued to 40Nm I don't think a lot of people will tighten to spec.
As someone else has said I have see people using plumbers PTFE tape used over the BB threads then this is greased and then installed could be good shout
Seatpost bolts: Make sure these are greased
Saddle rails: I use paste on the saddle rails - although I think they may have to be greased
Seatpost wedge: This has to be greased, and you should add carbon paste on the front and rear of the seat post before tightening the edge to 6.2nm.
Thru axles: Grease the threads and where the head goes into the frame.

What Crank are you using? If its Shimano it is generally ok but if its aftermarket say a carbon crank make sure the chain ring bolts are also greased and tighten to the righty Nm.
These noises are a pain in the ass!!

One of the hardest to find creaks I've had was from rear quick release that was not tight enough. I was certain that it was coming from the BB

the kid's frame arrived. uncut, painted fork weighed in at 380g so hoping that is a good sign. he's building it up with the L-Twoo eRX v3 group set so might have to trim back the seat post length a couple of inches to clear the battery. he can safely cut back about 65mm to 70mm and still be in the minimum insertion range.

first (and only real problem i've run in to looking it over) is that the cable connection plugs on the L-Twoo group set are huge compared to to Di2. any tips on finagling the cable into to chain stay?

the bike is mostly built except for one MAJOR annoyance. they didn't pack the damn flat mount adapter for the fork. it's such a pain in the butt finding those in stock most anywhere. they did remember to provide the two screws though that attach it to the fork.

Yeah, not hard to find online though. Or just get a high zoot Chaser lightweight one

immediately jumped online and my usual go to places for small specialized parts had no stock. ended up grabbing one from UC Cyclery who had limited stock (and an extortionate shipping cost). I was getting to the point where i thought we were going to have to get the titanium one.

would have given mine for free, I bought the lightweight from CHASER at aliexpress which was appr. $20 incl. shipping and titanium bolts

I was also told the current "new" versions are all heavier. Lets see...

Fork supplier was changed in March/April, so all recent forks should be around 400g.


This is a major risk and could end in a fatality, even CN companies should act more responsible.
