2024 11.11 / Black Friday sale planning
« on: October 30, 2024, 10:02:30 PM »
As most of you know, the 11.11 sale is one of the biggest of the year. Vendors also have a history of increasing prices in advance - just like US retailers for Black Friday. What is in your cart waiting on the sale?

I have a set of NGEbut hubs (i9 hydra clones) that show as $158 today with a price drop to $136 on Nov 1st. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806584091583.html Now to see if it drops even more.

the prices have been inflating as if alix were becoming a total scam in the last couple of weeks, just so that they can come down again. The magnitude of which is insane, both on high value items, and cheap ones.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

At current prices I really struggle to justify any Ali/china stuff. The 20% price difference or similar doesn't seem to justify by itself being the only "key" difference the ability to customize colours or sizing.. Right now in the market even second hand stuff appears more expensive than new stuff.

Is anyone following the US de minimis tariff exemption changes? this year's 11/11 prices might be the lowest we'll see in a while. I'm thinking about loading up on some drivetrain parts. :-\

Their "Choice" deals starting tomorrow aren't as "Choice" as they were a few months ago.  I am glad I already purchased a lot of items a while back.  For a lot of the items I purchased prices are up a lot. 10% to 30%    I am sure that the Chinese have taken the same sales playbook as the USA has been following for years now.   They probably realize that a lot of USA consumers are suckers and will purchase marked up items thinking they received a good deal during the sales.

I suspect that the majority of us on Chinertown are using "discretionary" money to purchase or stock up on items we really don't need so we will cut back on our purchases unless we feel we are getting our money's worth.

Regarding 11-11 sale,  I have my list of higher priced items that I will pull the trigger on if the price is right:  Sale price + store coupons + Aliexpress coupons + coins.  This combination sometimes can't be beat.

I'm hoping to pick up a new wheelset. Possibly the Lexon carbon cranks too if the price is good. Maybe a saddle

I'd be looking for the new Lexon Road 24mm crankset if price is right, and a Xcadey power meter to fit.

ZTTO gen2 or gen3 cassette

Magene radar

Sensah hrd team pro for the commuter. (Anyone tried this group since they updated their brakes?)

Do you think the daily mission started today for the merger boss minigame are for 11-11 sale?
The credit exchange will be opened on 18-11, but on other minigame prizeland the credit obtained expires on 19-11, so it seems I can't merge the total credit for alla minigames

Today is Mega Choice day and they added a few bigger discount codes, but not many vendors lowered their prices. I guess we'll have to wait untill 11.11 to see if prices drop and bigger coupons are applied.

I spent about an hour today looking at the Choice sale.  Many items significantly more expensive than when I purchased them in June.  Nothing that I see is captivating me enough to purchase at this point in time.

I can't get ANY of the choice coupon codes to work. If they did, some items might be worth it.

Interesting coupons duch as 70 off 500 didn’t work for me either… managed to get 4$ off 40$ (CAD) in the middle of the day for a couple of cheap things I was about to buy anyway, other coupons were apparently on a first served first come basis.

Looking at these as well: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMT21ni apparently 48% stiffer than FS300 but currently more than twice the price... Got two carbon aero handle bar from this brand and I like them.

Went into an Alibaba spiral yesterday looking at Yunan bike wheels (apparently the seller of Elite Wheels) as it could be cheaper than Aliexpress, but it was difficult to browse. I was looking for some MTB carbon wheels with DT 240, 30mm inner width, but I wasn’t sure I was ordering the right set (couldn’t find the difference between their XC and All Mountain wheels).
