Any thoughts on the 145% Chinese tariff on purchases?

Not sure. I've ordered a ton this last month or two with no issues, but it's been lots of small parcels. I have a pair of sneakers that have been in customs for 3-4 days now and are making me a little nervous.

Yeah I think you are safe for now. All hell's gonna break loose after 2nd May. I had two separate orders come through yesterday and last Friday, no drama. But through UniUni. I am curious to know what UPS is doing with orders that cleared the US customs but haven't been delivered.

I read that March imports from China were up over 12% as people/stores/business started stocking up on orders.   I think that April imports will be up even higher, then all imports from China will crash in May. 

I risked another Aliexpress order April 11th.  The items have already made it into Customs.  My April 4th order took 5 days to reach customs and passed through customs in 1 day. 

A carbon rim I ordered March 17th appears to be missing in action.   I have no proof that it has left China.  [Package leaving origin country/region.
Apr 2, 01:47 (GMT-6)]  On April 17th, I can submit a refund request because the item guarantees a 30 day delivery.    The seller states I should receive it "any day"
I would rather have the rim.  I wanted to build up one more wheel for my bikes.

A couple more orders clear es quickly for me too, putting another one tonight. Focusing on choice item to limit the risk

I placed orders for 200+ items (building up two new bikes, plus a bunch of other hobbies items). Now still have 6 items still on the way.  I have a gravel handlebar that they obviously put on a boat so it's been 15 days and no update on the tracking. I think my remaining items will all arrive before May 2nd but I'm sure there would be chaos immediately after, unless Trump tweets again extending the deminimus for another 90 days.

Looks like everything cleared customs without any action from me.  Biggest ticket items were crankset and brakes (just over $100). Lots of other little items in separate shipments that seems to have breezed through.

Wishing I had ordered a gravel frame a month ago.  Not sure I want to risk getting hit with a 30% charge.

I think I have a decent parts stockpile that I started back in November 2024. Plus I rotate my bikes to minimize wear-n-tear and have an immersive chain wax routine as well. This is definitely the Chinertown apocalypse for US forum members!

I did put in a Choice order on a few spare parts and an expedited wheelset from Tagoola. If they can deliver before May 2nd, they'll get a big kudos from me!

Hmmm... Ali says that my package was chosen for a customs inspection and might be delayed for 7-10 days. It's already been in customs inspection for 3-4 days. Ugh.

Yeah, happening a fair amount lately. My frame was held for 5 days by Chinese customs. Its also landed in USA but no tracking movement for 5 days...

Or, my fear is that even the people implementing these procedures at various offices, regional and local, don't know what they should be doing so they're just "winging it".

Like most, I'm pausing all ali buys until this thing gets figured out. Hopefully its not as bad as we think.
