Hi everyone, today I started assembling my build, but I’m having an issue with the bottom bracket. As shown in the photos, with a SRAM Red 22 crankset (53/39 chainrings) and a BB68/73 bottom bracket, when used without spacers, the crankset sits about 1 mm away from the chainstay. When I use a 2.5 mm spacer, the distance to the chainstay increases to 3.5 mm.

However, in this case, when I torque the crankset to 30 Nm, it gets so tight that it almost doesn’t rotate at all. On the other hand, without the spacer, even at 35 Nm, there is no binding and it spins smoothly.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
By the way, I measured the SRAM Red 22 crank spindle length as 107 mm.

It was alright for me using the wavy spacer in the drive side. Not meant to be fitted that way and the chainline was possibly not straight so I ended up swapping it for a Dub crankset + dub BB.

I received my frame today. Size 56. Metallic white. The seatpost fits quite tightly into the frame; there are even marks on it. The seatpost bolts are different sizes, which is a first for me. There are also some imperfections in the paintwork, like a matte spot near the front derailleur mount and between the bottle cage bolts. Overall, the paintwork is worse than on my old Carbonda CFR707 frame.

For the seat post is normal to have different screw sizes, and for the paint didn’t seems too bad to me, if you are not happy with the frame just write to them they have a good after sale support

I’m really pleased with how the build is progressing. No major issues. I’m glad I kept the 54cm frame so I can carry on with the build while the 56cm is on its way. It means I’ll have the 54cm to sell locally, or on this forum in a month or so. Current weight 6.4kg, but that excludes brake calipers, front mech and bar tape 👌👍😊

Build almost finished, I was focusing on the drivetrain, Magene P515 powermeter + Passquest 52-36 with Shimano 105Di2, pretty happy with the result, I could have opted for another powermeter (even lighter for the same price as the P515).

Any other optimizations I could make without spending a fortune?

@Dovh and I have this OSPW for 105 Di2 and we are happy with it. However, Sander had some issues with the bolts coming loose afaik. But that is not an issue for me, I reckon I did around 7k with it this year and it is rock solid.

I have mounted the frame for my son. Everything went quite smootly and had no issues... Except the front derailleur. It is a mechanical 105 12s. It never worked so smooth as the rear one. I think the internal routing must be the issue, maybe on the bottom bracket? The hose should go under or above the BB?

The new headset kit arrived yesterday, but unfortunately it doesn't fit either: the end piece where the cables are supposed to pass doesn't fit the ElitaOne/Roval Rapide handlebars (see photo)!  :'(

The kit appears identical to the ones supplied with the Kocevlo integrated handlebars, which, however, feature fully integrated cable routing, unlike the Roval Rapide... the headset cap diameter is 56mm, but the compression ring is slightly too high.

So, I believe there are currently no kits compatible with both the R088 frame and the Roval Rapide handlebar.... This morning I wrote to Spcycle hoping for some suggestions, but otherwise, I think the only solution is to change the handlebars. 

I quickly reread all 65 pages of this thread, and the most commonly used integrated handlebars on the R088 are:

- Lexon Vero/Thin Line
- Balugoe
- Spcycle HB-05

It's a shame that all these models require a two-bolt for support GPS....while I'd like to find a model with a single-bolt front mount, so I can at least use the Magcad Bolt V2 mount specifically for the Roval Rapide handlebars.

Aside from the Lexon models that have a 59mm headset cap, can you tell me the outside diameter of the other caps?

This should work as far as I can tell. Just worried it'll be junk and a waste of money. My backup plan is to try drawing something up in CAD and 3D printing it. I didn't want to resort to that because it'll probably take several iterations to get the shape to match the bars.

There's also this company called MagCAD that makes adapters between the Roval Rapide and other Spec bikes. None of them would fit this frame unfortunately.

For a cable coming out behind the BB between the chainstays, it should go below the BB for a bigger curve radius and less chance of kinking. That's how the Tarmac SL7 does it.

Quick test ride round the block now I've got it all together. Was a bit worried the colour was a bit too subdued when I first got the frame but it really pops in the sun!

Yes. I ended up removing the outer sheath from the batttery enclosure to fit it inside the seat post. Probably not the most weatherproof solution but this wont be a all-weather bike.

I also had to file the hole for the FD cable slightly wider as it was too small for the connector on the cable to fit through.

Other than that no issues with the build up besides those caused by my own incompetence.
