Last Friday, to my great surprise, the frame was delivered.

Unfortunately the packaging is very/too simple, and the box arrived quite damaged.... an aspect to be reviewed and improved in my opinion.

I noticed an imperfection on the seat tube where the seat post is inserted (see circle in photo).... right where the box is cut, but Spcycle told me that it was a mistake by the worker who did not fill it with resin.

A defect that can be solved by painting the frame and that does not involve any risk of breakage or safety.

The drainage holes and the mechanical gear cable are not finished well (I cut myself while running my finger through them).... I will have to smooth them out before painting.

The rest seems to be fine, even if I haven't had time to check everything properly this weekend.

How many days between order and delivery?

In my case 9 days....frame ordered on March 26th and delivered on April 4th.

For the price, those little imperfection seem acceptable. That little nick on the seat post opening can be fixed with some filler and/or might not even be noticeable after it's been painted. As long as the internals look clean, I wouldn't worry too much. Did you check if you received a flush or concave non-drive side thru axle hole? I'm curious if SPCycle fixed that issue. If not, did you receive a rear thru axle with multiple washers?

For the painting I will have to wait until mid-May....the painter already has some jobs booked.

In the end I think I will opt for the dove gray marbled effect like the SL8 S-Works....I am still undecided about the color of the brand and SPCYCLE logo: I still don't know whether to apply them, and whether to make them the same color as the SL8, or satin black like the components (wheels, handlebars, seat post).

Suggestions are welcome....thanks!

Unless SPCycle gave me some freebies I don't think I'd put their logo on your bike! 

Maybe do a play on words like T-WERKS or something funny just to mess with the weekend S-Works coffee riders!

Weather has been so nice here, I took my R088 on a 42km casual ride, which still resulted in some steep climbing! 

The way I have this bike setup, it's just very nimble and responsive. Climbs effortlessly as well!

Actually you're not wrong....no freebies, I would have expected a "gift" for the imperfections of the frame, and instead nothing.

The fact is that I'm used to seeing the writing on the down tube, but I wouldn't know what to put there instead (playing with the word S-Works is not for me)....and without it it seems a bit "naked".

I definitely got cut and some carbon fiber splinters while trying to fish some line through the bottom bracket area.

I asked the painter if he can file away the imperfections, otherwise I'll take care of it myself with a file and sandpaper.

This might actually be the way to go for consumers looking to avoid any stigma of riding a straight up clone. How much does the frame cost?

During the last AliEx spring sale it was $473 USD frame only + they had a $100 USD coupon going. Though who knows how much stuff is going to cost in the next month.
