Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame

Hi, longtime listener, first time caller here. I have read this entire thread through at least a couple times now and it's been very helpful.

Just to add some more data points here – I ordered my own frame about a week and a half ago and it shipped today. Spcycle was responsive and helpful over Aliexpress messaging. I picked chameleon blue (glossy, size 54cm). First three photos attached here are what they sent me before they shipped (I asked them to share pics before it got packed). The last photo is admittedly not my photo (sorry if not allowed!), but a pic someone else posted of their Spcycle gravel frame in chameleon blue. I was undecided on color until I saw this – damn. All my other bikes are pretty plain and I thought this color looked sexy AF. Admittedly now, in regular light, like in the photos they sent me, I do not like this paint color as much (it leans very purple for me), but oh well. Really, will I ever be 100% satisfied with all my bikes? Lol...not sure. about that.

Anyway, can't wait to receive it. It's my first carbon bike although I have many (too many) others. I plan on building it up with Dura-Ace r9170 and some Tagoola wheels that should also be arriving next week.

One thing I will note – I use Rakuten frequently as an online shopping portal (free to use) and have it linked to my Amex. They happened to be running a 25x points back promo the day I ordered (they do this every now and then and I was waiting for this). I ended up getting enough Amex points from this one purchase to get a domestic air ticket (or whatever). Nice bonus! If you don't use Amex you can also have it convert to cash back.

Will post more pics once I have the frame in hand.

What I dont like that much about SPCycles chameleon paint is the thick flakes it has in the paint. I much prefer paintjobs from the surprised store. (but they dont carry this frame)

Here's the finished frame!
Unfortunately, the logo and lettering came out glossy instead of matte as I requested (), and (at least in the photos) the contrast between the frame and the lettering is a bit too strong... I would have preferred a more subtle contrast. 
I should have it in my hands next week...if I really don't like it, I'll opt for new stickers to apply on top, or have them completely removed from under the clear coat.

I’m just about finished with my 105 Di2 build and thought I’d share a little workaround I came up with for the battery install in case it helps anyone else.

The stock clip that’s supposed to hold the battery under the seatpost never seated properly for me—the tabs just wouldn’t click into the holes on the post. The “proper” fix would probably be trimming a couple millimeters off the seatpost, but I wasn’t too keen on that.

Instead, I went with a simpler solution: I added two small zip ties to the battery so I can pull it out easily after sliding it into the seattube. One zip tie holds the second in place, which acts as a little grab handle. The battery sits in the seatpost with the connectors facing up, and the extra cable tucks neatly inside.

With a bit of wiggling (but no force) the battery slides all the way into the narrower section of the seattube and is still very easy to remove. For reference, it sits about 20 cm down from the seattube opening to the top of the battery. The seatpost itself goes in just as far as it would without the battery/wiring (sticky layer fully inserted), and I was also able to use the hole behind the front derailleur mount without any trouble

I hope this is useful for others facing the same issue.

I have never installed a Di2 battery before and this looks like a good solution compared to sanding down the seatpost. However, I'm a little bit confused. If the battery slides into the seatpost by itself, would it not also slide out when you insert the seatpost into the frame? What is holding the battery inside the seatpost so that it doesn't slide out? Sorry if I misunderstood you.

The battery slides into the seattube, not the seatpost The trick is to get the battery deep enough so it doesnt interfer with the seatpost ontop, which can be quite difficult with all that cables. And i think even if i did sand down the seatpost and got that battery holder clip to attach, it still would have been to tight in the seattube with the connector facing downwards (all cables under the battery)

Hi, I had the frame painted locally, while I had Speedy Decal make the decals (customizing the font and Spcycle logo).

I had the decals painted in matte black, but when I applied them under a clear coat, they lost their matte finish.

Recently installed easeadon 50 mm wheels with galfer road wave cl discs, I am happy that after the Shimano discs I did not have to adjust anything. The weight of the bike with pedals and a computer mount was 7.170 kg. I rode the TT 20 km on it with an average speed of 43.2 km / h. I am happy with how light the bike is, but unfortunately I have problems with the front shifting, the chain often dropped to the outside. This happens during sprints and when riding on bad roads, it's annoying, especially during races. I am trying to figure out what the reason is, maybe the frame is too flexible and this causes the front derailleur to push the chain to the outside. I adjusted the derailleur according to the site bettershifting

I can't entirely tell from the picture, but it looks like the FD has more space to be closer to the chainring. I usually have about a 2mm gap. A larger gap between the FD and chainring could be the cause of your outer chain drop.

Doubting whether or not to get their integrated handlebar with the frameset.

For those who got it with the bike......
1-What's it like?
2-Does it flex much?
3-What's the 130 drop like?
4- what's 9 degree angle like?
5- Also no flare at all, right?

It sucks a bit that the 38cm is only offered with 80/90 stem lengths.

Sorry a lot questions there. Hope someone can help me make up my mind.

It depends on your tastes....glossy black is always good, but I would dare with another metallic color: I really like purple (both light and dark), otherwise a nice golden yellow (nr.15) that I haven't seen yet!

Thanks for your colour suggestions. They are good ones but I think I made up my mind now about glossy black. I have been back and forwards with different colours and finishes and I think I'll stick to what I know to avoid disappointments.

Wow! That is fast! a 20km Time trial on this bike? 43 average without aerobars. Nice! Goes to show how fast this bike is too.

I can only imagine that the derailleur isnt adjusted in the correct way, There is no way 'frame flex' on that small distance is able to throw the chain off.

I bought frame with that number 12 colour - dark purple. It looks amazing
