PS: Here's a short video of the issue I'm having with the XMCS 1 by narrow wide chainring with a Shimano 12-Speed quick link. Whilst riding the bike, on load the quicklink gets VERY stuck in the teeth resulting in pretty hardcore chain slap.

Peter had his engineers look at my issue, and they failed to see any issues after their testing, which was videos of them rolling the chainring around on a chain fitted to another bike. IE: they were holding the chainring in their hands rolling it over the chain rather than actualy fitting it to a bike for testing.

He asked me for more photos, or a video of my issue, and whilst I was initially annoyed with their testing, and also having to take off my Alugear chainring to get their chainring back on my bike, to then shoot a video to send. I figure I'll be helping them further develop the product, or at least help them to give future buyers a warning when purchasing the chainring.

Peter has since sent this video to his engineers. Fingers crossed they actually further develop the chainring to work perfectly with Shimano 12-Speed chains (vs. suggesting to use a quick link from KMC/YBN etc.).

  I have had this happen to another ring as well. I resorted to filing the teeth a little but it should not happen at all - and probably wouldn't with a 10 or 11 speed chain. I could understand with something cheap but spending this much I would be pissed. Does it catch on the "narrow" tooth of the ring as well ?
I have a hope until someone can prove otherwise.

I'm not sure as I've taken it all off again now, but I'm assuming the easiest fix for this issue would be to find a 12-Speed quick link that will work. KMC, YBN, etc. Before splashing more cash on a bunch of different quick links I think I'll wait for a reply from Peter and his engineers.

What do you think about the straightness of the chainring?
Had some challenges setting setting the front derailleur up.

Runs true with DA chainrings.

Need to reevaluate a proper way to measure the deflection.

Running into a slight issue with the crankset as well, let’s see how this turns out. (But need confirmation about crank bolt torque settings and there may be something with the pedal thread…)

My bike shop is having an issue fitting the cranks. I have reached out to Peter for an answe but he will be super busy with his new born.
The cranks are replacing Sram Quark that are torqued to 35 nm when fitting. But when the XCMS cranks are fitted and torgued beyond 15nm the BB gets compressed. My bike shop guy shakes his head and says he doesnt understand.Anyone had this issue or can suggest a solution?

XMCS crankset now fitted with a Csixx direct cinch mounted narrow wide chainring (no need for spider or chainring bolts).

Can anyone who installed this crankset tell me if you put spacers either end of the spindle? My LBS installed it and found going beyond 15nm applied too much pressure to the BB. I don’t think they used the spacers

No need for any spacers on a 2023 Cervelo S5 with standard BB and no spacers needed at all on a Tarmac SL8 either (also standard BB). Cranks spin very freely on both bikes.

Now it doesn’t move anymore but there’s still the slightest clicking when applying inwards pressure on the crankarm.

I had sometime recently and it was pedals  ;D so tightened as required to 20Nm.  I would use a little Loctite. The Nm on the XM bolt is low compared to competition which is like 35-40Nm

How do you know the torque settings ?  There is a text of 12-15 NM. But is that for the crankarm bolt or the lockring  that is above (which has the actual number on it)
This also similar on the lexon crankset that I have.

I verified it’s not the pedal because I pushed on the crankarms themselves. But thanks for the suggestion

Is loctite on that bolt really that great of an idea? I thought you’d have issues loosening that bolt at some point anyways (hence the need for special tools)

40nm. Race Face suggests 50nm, but I didn't want to push it with a brand I'm not so familiar with, so 40nm for now, will keep an eye on it over the next few rides.

What's the final verdict then on the carbon chainrings? Shall I just stick to Shimano rings for now?
