Chaser bike parts
« on: February 04, 2025, 12:17:49 PM »
I've seen the Chaser brand pop up on Aliex and Tiparts for quite a few products now. They seem to specialize in super lightweight aluminum parts, including flat mount brake adapters, cassette and disc lockrings, a 9-gram centerlock adapter, and bar end plugs.

I'm thinking about buying their brake accessories--that centerlock adapter seems to be among the lightest.

Anyone else have experience buying from Chaser?

Just stumbled over their ti thru axles, which seemed like a great deal at $80 US. Tariffs have maybe changed that.

Tariff on Chinese goods is now 10% (AFAIK--the announcement said tariffs are increased 10%, but I can't figure out if there was a preexisting tariff that applied), and the de minimis rule has been taken out.

So yeah, 10% more expensive now. Not great but not horrible.

They're really good, and a pretty decent weight saving. There seems to be a new version than mine floating around? Different design, but same weight. https://imgur.com/a/jGEeV0h

I'm a member of a FB group called "Chinese Bikes" a guy called Chao Ma, who shares some of their upcoming products like this insane lightweight center lock disc rotor https://imgur.com/a/IPwWbFf

After trying the Onirii lightweight rotors, I would really not try these.

He links to a site here https://spartsti.com/products/chaser-disc-rotor
There they sell many chaser parts that aren't on ali. I don't know if I want to beta test their products though  ;D

On top of existing 25% section 301 tariff, which many folks never saw b/c of the de minimus exemption which is gone. So %35 plus cbp fees and brokerage fees from the shipper. So that $80 qr is now $110 or so, and who knows how delayed.

Oh Jesus fuck. I did not know about section 301.

Well boys, looks like it’s time to pack it in. The golden age of D2C Chinese bike parts in America is over. It was nice knowing ya.
