Tagoola wheel

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick pre-review of my new Tagoola Cure 24 wheelset from AliExpress.

Order & Delivery:
Ordered on August 5th and they arrived at my doorstep on August 13th. The package was undamaged and well-protected. The wheels were packed in basic thin foam bags inside a larger plastic bag. Inside the box, they included two 60mm tubeless valves, a roll of 27mm tubeless tape, and a wheel tension report sheet.

Build Quality:
First impressions out of the box are very positive. The carbon layup looks perfectly clean with no visible imperfections from the assembly. The wheel build feels solid, and the freehub came pre-greased, emitting a nice, deep 'click..click..click' sound from the ratchet mechanism.

Weights & Specs (24mm Internal / 32.6mm External Width):
Total weight came out to 1465g with the tubeless tape and valves already installed, so the bare weight should be a bit lower. I am upgrading from stock Giant P-R2 wheels (which weigh a tank-like 2200g with Giant Fondo 32mm tyres). Shaving off roughly 730g should easily get me to Pogacar-level speeds!

Tyre Installation:
I mounted a set of 32mm Continental GP5000 S TR tyres. As expected, they were notoriously tight. I used a Tyre Glider and a bit of dish soap to guide them on, and they popped right into place. Best of all, they seated perfectly using just a regular floor pump—no compressor needed. At my usual pressure (49 psi front / 51 psi rear), the 32mm tyres stretch out to a nice 33.5mm width on these wide rims.

Next Steps:
I’m heading out for a 50km test ride this weekend and will report back with a full riding review. For now, initial impressions are great, and I’d definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a budget-friendly carbon wheelset.

I went out on the wheelset on Saturday and covered just under 120 km in a group ride.

The 32 mm tyres measure 33.4 mm on the rims, and I was running 51 psi front and 55 psi rear.

Nothing out of the ordinary to report. To be honest, I didn't really pay much attention to the mini-hook design while riding, as everything performed exactly as expected

Regarding my comments about chasing lower wheel weights, my point is that most wheel brands tend to offer a one-size-fits-all approach, and generally that works well. However, not every wheelset is suitable for every rider or riding style.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ultra-light wheelsets, but riders need to be realistic about their weight, riding style, road conditions and intended use. A 55 kg rider climbing smooth mountain roads has very different requirements from a 95 kg rider doing fast group rides on rough roads.

I think the first thing you need to decide is which tyre size you want to run.
I don't think 50mm is deep and is generally considered the best all round depth for a road wheel.
I would say the pulse is more suited to 28-30mm tyre looking at the rim width.
The Aura no doubt will take a 30m tyre however after mounting 32mm I say this or wider as  I am also considering getting a set of 34mm for this wheelset

Personally, I prefer manufacturers that offer different build options and weight limits rather than simply advertising the lightest possible number.

Nothing wrong which chasing light wight, but especiallywith the the lower end of the market I have 'Strong. Light. Cheap. Pick Two' in mind and since I don't chase the lightest possible numbers I rather take a wheelset that is a bit heavier.
I was talking about the Cure 24 or the Wave 2.0, not the Aura.
I know that 50 isn't considered deep, would be just my first deeper wheelset so I'm a bit hessitant, but I've pushed back the purchase of new wheels for the time being anyways.

As for choosing between 28C and 30C, it depends on your needs: opt for 28C if you want a more race-oriented feel, or 30C if you want to balance performance with comfort. Personally, I use a setup combining PULSE rims (23mm internal width) with 30C PRO 5 tires, which offers a good balance of comfort and cost-effectiveness.

Thanks, i want a louder free hub anyways. I think I would prefer 30, but since I've decided to pushed back the purchase due to more important bike upgrades this isn't that important.

I want to say thank you to Tagoola.

I've been using AR XPLR since a bit less than a year on smooth and heavy gravel mountain roads. Unfortunately, after a ride, one of my friends noticed a bump on the side of my rear rim. It was cracked. I didn't notice it because there was not drop of tension, neither was some left/right or up/down deviation. The ride was indeed with rocks flying everywhere.

I contacted Tagoola and offered me a replacement rim for the price of shipping which was 39€ (45us$). He sent it the day after and received it 10 days later.
Really happy with customer service and the wheels !

Everything seemed flawless until when i was to apply rim tape and saw this line with exposed fibers, I am no carbon expert but i have taped many carbon rims and never saw something like this.

Contacted tagoola, waiting for the answer. New Bike Day without carbon wheels for me .

From de pic it doesn't seem like exposed fiber, but more like molding wax. Difficult to say with only this pic

Agreed, that looks like residue from the molding process and not part of the rim.

I've done a total of 800kms on the wheel an so far so good, no problems at all, Freehub sounds amazing. A tad bit scary in crosswinds, but thats to be expected with 50mm wheels
