I also (finally) finished my build this week and am happy with the process and result. Thanks to the community for the helpful tips (including the 3D-printed Varia mount).

For reference, I am 187 cm tall and chose the 56 frame with 120 mm/36 mm. I still need to fine-tune the position a little.

I chose the frame in gloss raw carbon (with my own deals) and a ceramic coating finish. Other special details include a Bikone bottom bracket and SLT headset (I installed the spacer). Paired with ZEN Wheels, Sram Rival XPLR, and a Rotor crank with a Power2max PM. I want to use the bike as a commuter and winter all-rounder. The first few kilometers will show how it performs in this usage area.

I look forward to your feedback.

What size/model are those Shawl tires?

are there any other comparable of the shelf bikes in terms of geo? i want it to fit like a glove and therefore hopefully ride some bikes which specs i could transfer to the lcr018d and build it up.

Please note that the number of spacers under the steam can significantly change the character of the frame. The reference values apply to the absence of spacers. Without spacers, Lightcarbon actually has a stack of +16 mm (8 mm spacer under the steam and 8 mm rise on the handlebars).

This is with mounting paste applied but not tightened. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with the message from Jim to tighten to 10nm to hold this in place. The clamping mechanism is not meant to hold the seat post in place in all axis, is it? Just to hold the position up and down..

Well, it did not get tight with carbon paste and tightening to 10Nm, as Jim suggested. Hoping the problem is with the diameter of the seatpost, not the frame. Not sure how we will solve this one..

Are you sure its the seatpost and not the sadle or the seatpost clamp, you can remove the sadle to check if it make clap sound.

That's why I'm holding the seatpost for the second sound. The same sound is also there when i release the tension on the seat post clamp.. It's not the saddle. But I can remove it just to make it clear. It would be very strange if there was an adjustable tension in the saddle area that could be triggered with a nudge in the seat post.

You can probably make a shim for the seatpost with a coke bottle, but Jim is ultimately responsible for addressing this.
His fix didn’t work so something is wrong somewhere. Either the post diameter or the seat tube internal diameter.            (obviously you know this already)

Take a look down the seat tube and see if the walls look flat and even.

I think you’ll need to wait for Jim to come back from NY vacation

IT makes sense, and i could agree with you, but i have seen weird shit in bikes, any way nothing to loose in testing

If i´m right easy to change sadle than seatpost or worst a frame

Apparently Trace Velo has a fix for this issue using polythene packaging material as a shim wrapped around the seatpost.

Yeah...no.

If this is my bike, LC makes this right. No "hack or bodge" for a brand new frame and proprietary seatpost.

I'm planning to order a LCR018-D as a frame upgrade for an existing road bike as soon as SRAM Force E1 Exchange Kits become available at the end of March. That gives me time to decide not to do this, and I'm paying close attention to LC QC and customer support.

Looks like a problem in QC for that specific order, but if some finished orders also experiencing that particular problem and this is the time everybody should worry.

The Supersix was released today and they included the following



Interesting. I’m taking a few things away from this:

1. Cannondale is using Nm/deg for head tube stiffness and N/mm for BB stiffness -> they’re testing torsional stiffness at the head tube and lateral stiffness at the bottom bracket.
2. The significant difference in absolute values compared to LC strongly suggests that Cannondale is using a different testing protocol, especially for the BB. The head tube test could be similar, but without fixture details we can’t be sure. Given that the Cannondale frame is quite a bit lighter, lower stiffness values would not be unexpected.
3. We still don’t really know what the LC values are telling us, since the unit of measure and test definition are not known.
