Hey mates,
Got my after-paint QC photos last week and received the shipment tracking code today.
Frame size 54 — really happy with how the paint turned out.
I understand the point about centralizing the ordering system — having everything in a single platform with built-in order status tracking would definitely make the process feel more modern.
That said, the email communication itself works well. In my experience it’s been clear, responsive, and reliable. Moving everything into a dedicated platform would likely add operational costs for the company, which could end up increasing frame prices — and I’m pretty sure most buyers would rather keep costs down.
We also shouldn’t forget that LC shares post-production and post-paint photos/videos whenever requested. With many other brands you simply pay and wait without seeing anything until the box arrives.
Personally, dealing with Wendy has been great so far — quick replies despite the time zone difference and always willing to provide updates when asked.
Regarding the “LightCarbon” branding topic, I see it mostly as a matter of perception and branding trends. You can have the frame painted however you like — fully custom, different logos, or even completely unbranded — so the hesitation some riders have is more about community snobbery than the actual product.
You could apply the same logic to something like a “Quick-Pro” bike — which, to be clear, is a good brand that makes solid bikes. But owning one doesn’t automatically make someone quick or pro. Branding and rider perception don’t always reflect the real value of the product itself.
I think the same applies to the Chinese carbon market in general. There’s still a lot of prejudice around Chinese frames and wheels automatically being “cheap” or low quality — even though the reality has changed a lot in recent years. Manufacturing standards, QC, and finishing have improved significantly, in some cases rivaling well-known Western brands.
The “Chinese = bad” mindset definitely still exists, but a lot of it comes down to knowing where to look and which manufacturers to trust.
