I suppose that’s the appeal of this frame if you want to use it on the road—that extra stiffness provided by an aero seatpost. For trails, though, it’s definitely a drawback. By the way, do you know if any off-the-shelf seatpost would be compatible? For instance, a Ridley one, since the frame looks like a carbon copy of the Astr? Thanks.

Hi yall,
so I had headset play for 1 year. Tryed little 0.25 mm C-shims  as suggested here and also tryed better and longer expander plug (DEDA) without any success. I decided to buy  a different Compression C-ring  on aliexpress(see picture). Now it works perfectly. I chose the 7.3 mm but maybe the 6.3 mm could have been ok too. Just dont use the C-ring provided with the frame. Chris from Velobuild discarded the issue saying the issue with previous frame was solved few years ago despite many people on this forum with similar issue. I can confirm the new C-ring provided by velobuild with this frameset is not really better. Too stiff maybe.

Anyhow, problem solved and can finally ride the bike!

I followed your advice - I'm now two rides deep since and it works so far.

First time I've had two rides and no play afterwards.

Hi all, I just ordered my frame and I’m kinda stuck between the 2x grx di2 groupset and ultegra di2. I’ll mostly be doing road riding ~70%, but I’d still like to fit big ol’ tires on my gravel wheels. Does anyone here have experience with FDR8150 and its tire clearance as well as a 34t inner chainring?

Does anyone happen to know the dimensions of the headset? Mine has started to feel a bit rough and needs replacement. Have managed to stear clear of the play, but only just, so will probably order that "other" C-ring and use that when I put things together again.

Recieved mine two weeks after ordering in Belgium.

Zero issues. Sanded down the brake points with 60 grit but don't know if it was necessary.

I wish I had read the instructional videos for SRAM Rival direct mount though. Don't just use common knowledge from normal derailleurs, you will fail

Still waiting for my custom decals to arrive, but I already feel sorry I chose icecrack white because it's more silvergrey than white. The paintjob is more than good enough though.

I fitted one microshim underneath the stem but I don't think i had to, there was no rub. Shortened the steerer tube for the testride, but will shorten a bit more later.

A thick aluminium works great. The thin carbon ones are very bouncy.

Exactly how I would put it. It bounces alot and idk if anyone else found this to be the case but mine seemed to have way to much positive angle to it. I bought some washers and long m5 bolts so I could tilt it down to where I wanted it.

i used this, as it is aluminium and can be tilted (otherwise it sits way too high).

So now that it's been a bit of time and Ridley have just come out with the Kanzo Fast 2.0... would love to see Velobuild (Chris if you're listening please!!!) update their aero gravel frame to take it to the next level.
I would simply copy that Ridley geometry the same as done with the ASTR RS, up the BB drop to 80mm, head angle the same, seat angle a degree steeper, 425mm chainstays and 57-58mm tire clearance. No storage compartment. Keep it simple.

The head tube can be deepened a little, use the shapes at the back of the Kanzo Fast 2.0 as reference to get the tire clearance up (my Velobuild has no paint on the inside of the chainstays any more, I'm sure a lot of you are the same with 50mm tires...).

The current frame itself is very fast with road wheels and tires on - with Chung testing it matched my Supersix Evo gen 4, which is a pretty fast bike. Velobuild know what they're doing! My bike has had a lot of interest here in Cape Town as it's a bit different, especially with the Bikedoc 34cm bars.
