Velobuild AERO GRAV Frame

I'm in the process of building my bike, and the small cogs are making a lot of noise around the cassette, not the derailleur. I don't know if it's the cassette or the chain.

My setup consists of a Senicx PR3 crankset with a 42-tooth Goldix chainring with a 0 mm offset and a 49.7 mm chainline. The cassette is a Goldix MTB for a 12-speed 10-51-tooth XD freehub mounted on an XDR freehub with a 1.85 mm spacer behind the cassette. The chain is a stock SRAM GX 12-speed chainring and a GEX wheeltop derailleur.

Can you tell me what it could be? Is this normal, or do I need to change something?

I have the same cassette but for HG freehub (11-51).. it is quite a bit noisier (especially on the small sprockets) than the ztto 11-36.. it is not an alignment problem but I think it is a question of resonance of the monoblock structure.. consider that it is very light... the same thing happened on some old SRAM cassettes.

Thanks for confirming it for me. Because everything looked fine, and the shifting was working properly. In this case, have you tried other similar-range 10-51t cassettes that are lightweight, work well, and don't make that kind of noise? I'd like to return this one and install another. I have XDR and HG freehubs for my wheels.

Did you try to change settings of RD setting initial position more left or right?
I had some issues to find the best chain lenght to shift properly on the smallest cog, but not about noise (with sram chain and cassette 12s)

I saw some of you builded this bike with a Magene PES Powermeter. If i remember correctly magene stated on their website the PES Crankset wont work with T47 frames. How did you get it to work on this frame?

Yes, and it's centered with the small sprocket, and the shifting works correctly. It does make this noise, though, which could be due to the lightweight cassette. From what I've seen and heard, SRAM has this same problem with cassettes, and I've seen the noise sometimes reduce after the chain and cassette have settled in. It also doesn't help that it's a freshly hot-waxed chain. I've broken it in before putting it on, but it's always stiffer for the first 20km.

Finished my build, havent ridden it yet. XS with Gloss clearcoat.  8.75Kg with pedals and 48mm tyres. Mostly sram axs rival 43/30 10-44.

Built here worked out nicely too, gf very happy with it. 8.5kg incl pedals and 50mm G One R.

Mix of Rival, Force and Red parts. Rides incredibly well.

Do you think if it is possible to ask them not to drill holes for bosses for fenders, front derailleur, bottom of downtube? All these extra holes are bothering me a bit.

Finally finished mine. Size XL transparent green finish built with ltwoo eGR groupset (swapped stock calipers for magura), leese DUB crankset with pass quest oval chainring, e*13 9-44 cassette, Yuanan gravel wheels with conti hardpack 50mm tires. Weight with the pedals is exactly 8.5kg.
I still need to face brake caliper mounting surfaces since it's impossible to align the brakes.

My frame arrived yesterday and I'm pretty happy with it so far. It looks almost like a Ridley ASTR.

Two Things to keep in mind:
1. The frame has a lot of bolts (bottle cages, mud guards etc.) Those bolts look cheap on a black frame. So I ordered black bolts for the hole frame from Amazon.

2. (and that is my fault - but VB takes here a dumb route): the rear axle has a 1.5 thread and is not compatible with a sram axs transmission. A transmission RD needs an axle with 1.0 thread. So I had to order that as well...

Looking forward to finish the build and post some pictures. (FYI: 50mm Conti Terra Hardpack on 30mm inner width rim has enough clearance).

I’m planning to building this frame out with transmission RD as well (12sp GX Eagle Transmission). Does this one require 1.0 axle as well? Where did you order yours? Straight from Velobuild?
