Author Topic: Recommend me a non-integrated gravel frame with a standard seatpost?  (Read 1562 times)

Hi all, hope life is good.

I'm in the market for a good non-integrated gravel frame; carbon if possible. Various reasons but I really want to be able to choose my own cockpit, and I've fallen out of love with routing integrated headsets.

I'd also want to be able to run a regular seatpost, any of the standard widths will do the job.

Has anyone seen this unicorn in the wild?

TIA

SP-Cycles G068 could be the unicorn.

both the G068 and G058 have a semi internal option offered by sp-cycle, I would recommend using an elita one seatpost as the clamp would slip on the one i got from sp. Saddle would tilt like crazy if i hit bumps even with it over torqued a lot. Get a good headset system over the one they include as well

Thanks both!

Technically speaking any frame will allow you to use a non integrated handlebar, the difference is the location of the cable entry points - down tube, head tube or headset cover. The latter is called a semi integrated setup which still allows you to use your own handlebar and stem.

Carbonda CFR 707 has both integrated and non integrated options. The non integrated frame can actually be run either way.

Thanks again all, food for thought.

Ultramic; thanks for your comment on options. Perhaps I misunderstood you, but it seems to me that a substantial number of frames are designed solely for integrated systems, and lack any downtube or other ports. My Ican road frame is a case in point: integrated and nothing else.

hence my question.

This is an example of what I was trying to say. Even on frame which has the cables running internally through the head tube, using a headset cover like the one attached will allow you to run your own bar/stem.

I see; thanks for the clarification, I'm wiser now!

The OP said they didn't want to cable an integrated headset, This would still fall into that category but yes this allows you to choose your Bar stem to be just about whatever and not be limited to only an integrated stem/ handbar stem combo.

Absolutely, and thanks. As you say, for this build I'm needing something with no integration. I dont want to have to remove cables or hoses to change any bearings.

For more info (and a picture) on the matter semi-integrated cockpits, see https://www.massacan.cc/en/pages/quel-cockpit-pour-paula
I went for the FSA SMR semi integrated.
