I'm running a GP5000 35, no problems. Everywhere I look there's at least 3mm air, more like 5mm
Edit: I just checked, running Xmcs wheels with 26mm internal

Do you have calipers to measure the measured size of your tyre (inflated at riding psi)?
Are you eye balling these clearance measurements ("air"), or is it measured? The easiest method i found is using allen keys. A 4mm allen key either fits, or doesnt. if it fits, you try 5, it either fits, or doesnt. my LTK 268 has a 34.4mm tyre w 4mm either side, measured w calipers & 4mm allen key. I have no contact on the left side, and contact on the right side. 5mm key simply doesnt fit on either side.
Last: is it the new gp5000 35C, or is the all season version? (not sure it matters, but might as well be thorough).

Assuming that GP5000 35C All Season and the new fast one measure the same, then 26mm IW rim --> c.38mm tyre + 4 + 4.
--> can't really clear the GP5000 on a rim where you dont have a lightbulb effect (reports of 40-41mm on rims that result in a 38-40mm external width).
Also with the caveat of ETRTO safety shenanigans of 35C on wide rims that are still up for debate.
To be fair, maybe 3mm clearande is enough, btw. Never tested that. all i know is that ISO standard is 4mm and that 3mm isnt.
Also to be fair, a lightbulb effect at the front is a no no for me, but at the end of the day, on the rear wheel, it's dirty air already, so maybe it's not the end of the world is the tyre to rim transition is sub optimal.
Conclusion: kind of works, i guess?
