Can you do weigh in once again when it's painted?

I hope to get my Frameset this evening - so updates could come from then on...

Unfortunately due tu injury, timing with the paint-guy everything took ages... now someone tried to break into our cellar and I have no Idea wheter they managed to get to the parts and my tools (or how I could enter the cellar since they've damaged the door and the lock)...

So far it's been pretty doomed... I'll keep you posted as soon as things start to move...

I am really interested in this frame but will have to wait for user reviews. I Hope Peter can have frames painted-i have a studio ghibli inspired paint job in mind with either No Face or the Lapitian Robot on the head tube some sprites here and there and Haku the dragon/boy running down the top tube.

I specifically asked to get the frame unpainted because I had already a painter lined up around here and I was in a particular hurry…

long story short: he didn‘t paint the frame, my painter also didn‘t so it ended up ceracoted…
If anyone‘s interested: I wouldn‘t recommend…

Here you‘ll finde pictures of the coated parts (weight) - without any hardware (but some masking tape on the frame I found a bit later  ;D

And a very first glance on how it probably will look like assembled… (just put it together that far to check for where I have to cut the steerer…)
Since everybody around me is on holidays right now I probably won‘t be able to go any further before the end of next week… Handlebars are at afriend, some other small parts wait to be delivered… And I‘ll be damned if I find out where I‘ve put that damned bottom bracket…

And a sidenote - Seatpost is extremely tight in the frame… if i‘d have tried it before handing it over to the painter I wouldn‘t have coated it… even though that shouldn‘t be thick enough to be a problem…

So this is the only minus so far… and that i‘ve found out how weak cerakote really is :D

Ceracoat is a hard ceramic based paint.  I believe it’s baked on.  Very popular in the US for firearm parts manufacturers and auto parts. Usually, it comes in matte finishes and is supposed to be hard wearing.  Popular alternative for coating aluminum pieces instead of anodizing.

The hard wearing part is an absolute lie...

It's really loved for firearms because it's extremely heat resistant, but it's quite prone to scratches...

Ceramic coatings usually come in 5 to 50 microns, Cerakote is usually below 25 microns without compromising quality...
That's so thin that firearms people usually don't even care to mask screw threads since it's so thin it just doesn't matter...

As for the seatpost: I had a talk to another owner of the bike who had the exact same problem with the seatpost even without painting or coating it ... Even worse than with mine - his seatpost seams to be completely stuck now...
I hope I will not have to change sale height too soon because it's very close to stuck on mine as well...
I just believe that this is one of the weaknesses of this particular frameset...
I know why I love my round seatposts...

Hello rsw42,

I also ordered a Gt frame from Peter. He also offer XMCS paints jobs now.
I was wondering which BB you ordered, I have trouble finding one that will fit the 85.5mm.

Thanks!

I've got a Token BB from someone around here, who had gotten the wrong BB with his Winspace.
this one should work with 85.8 and I believe there also was one from Enduro i was looking into...

Is there a 0mm offset seatpost option?

Does anybody know if there are plans to release this frame in a larger size?
Unfortunately, the 58 is a bit too small for me.
