Any new experiences on the frame? Do you think you can run full length mudguards on the Altera when running 8170 2x and 50mm tire?

The tire clearance seems good but the front derailleur is strangely close to the tire on Patrick's video even on 45mm tires. How big you think I can go with 2x? Any chance you could measure the gap Patrick?

I'm riding the Ican X-gravel 2 now Pathfinder Pro 47s at 30 internal wheels measuring 50 and I can just fit a mudguard that's touching the Ultegra front derailleur.

I've tried to research for a frame with all the mounts I need for mudguards and a rack and the Yoeleo seems like the best option even with the mixed ride feel impressions. I'm kind of looking for a bike that rides like a train and can haul heavy cargo. But that I can still chase some koms with it when I feel like.

I ride in icy and snowy conditions 5 months of the year so stability is a plus. I hope they do a black friday sale because I would like to get custom paint too.

Ah…I doubt it…actually I am running a Tufo Thundero 48 which measures around 49mm at the knobs.
And as you can see on the image…the gap between the FD wheeltop and the tire is roughly 4.5 to 5mm.
So you might be able to run a 50mm tire but I guess you would have to cut away at least parts of the mudguard to fit that on top of the tire.
Not sure though.

Besides that…I am loving it…already set it up with a rear rack…so no annoying need for a humongous saddlebag for bikepacking…
also run it with 35mm Pirelli slicks….fun that was…

Just the storage „bento-boxes“ are not the top of engineering. I mean, everything works fine and all, but you really have to be cautious what you put in there, because the cut out is very narrow. So you might end up with a Tetris game that fit INTO it but you are troubled to get it out again….which sucks.

Thanks that is helpful. Looks like the wheeltop fd is a bit bulkier than Ultegra so I probably can fit mudguards even if I have to make a small hole there. And I only use them few months of the year anyway when it's cold and wet outside.

I'm thinking of getting the Ortlieb quick rack for it as I'm too lazy to ever to take my non quick rack off it's just so useful with Vaude silkroad rack bag.

Peak Torque G21 Altera tire clearance. Looks like a 2.1 is the limit in the rear, which is honestly a bit surprising to me. Those things measure more or less true to the official 53mm clearance, it should be possible to squeeze in a bit more. And he put way bigger tires on the old version.

I've definitely seen a G21 with Race Kings at a race, but I think that was also the old version.

Good spot. PT is running Classified G42, which is 25 internal while that guy is running Yoeleo wheels which are 23 internal. That difference amounts to about half a mm of measured width on the tire - which would mean being a quarter mm closer to the chainstays each side. That difference isn't much by itself, but combined with perhaps slightly lower tire pressure and looks like it works.

My G21 Altera frame has just shipped I can do some measurements when it arrives.

As all my gravel wheels are set up tubeless with sealant, I checked the clearance in a different way.

My current tyres are Tufo 48, and their actual measured width is 48.85 mm, rim is 23mm internal. An 8 mm Allen key just fits on the drive side with no play. On the non-drive side, there is still roughly 1 mm of space.

At the fork, I can fit a 10 mm Allen key on each side, with still about 1–2 mm of additional clearance.

There might be a potential issue with the height of the Race King 2.2, but I can’t check that at the moment.

Overall, there is more tyre clearance than on my Carbonda 696.

So the stated 53mm clearance should be correct as it would leave 6mm of space for both sides. I'm planning to run Thundero HD 48 on 30mm internal rims they should end up 50mm or a bit more measured width.

I think this bike is almost perfect to me, but I do wish it just had slightly more tire clearance. If it could just fit 2.2 no question with modern rim profiles it would be an instant buy. Might still end up getting one. It has basically the same geo as my cross bike (lower bb) but with way more tire clearance. That is the dream.

XMCS 53/32 wheelset, RotorUno 1x13 Gravel groupset, 10-46 force XPLR cassette, Dura Ace 170mm with Pass Quest 44t ring,

Looks good how is the Rotor groupset? Did you weigh the bike?

I just finished the build during these dark winter days...so not much to say. but as I own 2 more wheeltop groups I am very used to this kind of group/setup.

Compared to wheeltop the new Rotor Hoods/Shifters are quit a bit larger and more pleasant for larger palms.
btw funny...both sides do have 2 shifter buttons.
and the rear derailleur also is refined with a nicer charging port.
brake calipers are the same 2nd gen wheeltop.

shifting setup was easy:
initial setup tune for the 1st gear and from there the rest shifted perfect with the SRAM force 13sp.
the only thing you need to make this work with 13sp on the UDH frame (plus XPLR cassette) is a custom UDH hanger for standard mount derailleurs.
