I think it’s impossible to have a rim without internal holes and internal nipples, because somehow you need to have access to the nipples in order to adjust the spoke tension.

One detail I’ve noticed here while working in a bicycle factory is that a wheel with internal nipples must have small side holes for water drainage, since the internal nipple design allows a lot of water to get inside the rim, and without those holes the water cannot escape.

All rims should have that. Not just to evacuate water, but if there's a failure at the valve or rim tape and air escapes into the cavity, it could pressurise it so much it explodes.

You should let ENVE know about this. The number of wheels I receive here at work (we sell ENVE wheels) for warranty because they exploded is huge!

Zen said there is a change in availability  and they cannot supply the hub  and offered alternative so said nope!

Yeah it sucks, I've heard that their supply of HX hubs got cut off and they might be forced to raise prices.

Yes potentially
The HX hub is used in a lot  of premium  and high end wheelsets
They may have to Tier there wheelsets we will see
Disappointing not good for the small buisness pretty much getting strong armed buy the big boys basically.
There are other hubs out there so somethings is likely to crop up that will likely compete with that hub anyway.

Which was a touch as originally would have preferred gloss and now I have chosen a sliver hubs

Exciting stuff Sander. My wheels are in the making. Same specs as your 40/45 set but paintless and black hubs. Haven’t heard anything about the lack of XHs, so hopefully I got some of the last hubs in stock. Thanks for the help

My orginal set were Paintless and black hub.
Not 100% sure what is going on but zen can no longer the Hub no big deal the SR 270 is only like 46g heavier and still light

My winter wheels arrived today and are lovely. The gloss finish made fitting the tyres really easy and they're with 18g of the predicted weight. I'll get a picture of them next time I'm riding in day light.

My wheels are being delivered this week! Out for delivery today including the replacement climbing wheels 40/45mm
Mine were also off the claimed weight of 1288g at 1304g no big deal.
