Zen Carbon Wheels Xiamen

I initially bought this wheelset for my upcoming road bike, but then a gravel bike with heavy 650b wheels arrived in my fleet. So I gave the gravel bike a very nice-looking upgrade. (Zen Carbon 60/55mm 3.1mm carbon spokes, SR270 hub, +-1300gr)

Yesterday I came back from a ride and noticed that many spokes on the non-drive side are twisted. Some even up to 90 degrees. Front wheel is perfectly straight, rear drive side as well.
I can't think of a reason why this would happen during the ride, so I assume they already came like this out of the box.

Either way, they need to be straight again. I got this full-aero wheelset and the spokes are literally catching the wind now.

Yes, they are compatible. I was meaning that the Elilee ones are the only ones on AliExpress that have the surface contoured to exactly match the Dura ace chainrings. The generic ones seem to have the 4 ‘splines’ not built up as far so that a ridge would show. It’s purely aesthetics though, not performance related.

The Magene PES P515 uses its own proprietary spider mounting interface - it's not compatible with any others.

You mean for the chainrings or the crank? I thought you could use these with Shimano chainrings.

Carbon spoke nipples are tightened differently than steel ones. You need to take the tire and rim tape off and insert a tool from the access holes to the nipple. Get the correct tools and research how it works. Do not try to stop the twisting by holding the spoke. I would contact Zen about the problem.

If you've twisted the spoke too much, there's a non-zero chance you've already damaged it.

Grab both metal ends of the spoke with something and twist at the same time.

Wheels do settle — it’s normal for new wheels, especially if they haven’t been ridden yet. I’d personally get a local wheel builder  or local bike shop to give a cost to check and sort them out first. Once you know that, then contact Zen and let them know: this is the issue, and this is how much it will cost to get the wheels checked over, and see if they cover it I would not touch the spokes myself.

My ZEN wheels arrived with a damaged spoke, which I had to replace myself. Apparently, ZEN doesn't take quality seriously 
Next time I certainly won't buy anything from ZEN and will instead ask Peter from XM Carbonspeed or buy reputable brands with character.

Zara told me 110-120kgf when I asked her about it. This was for the rear though. Not sure of recommendation for the front is the same.

Wheel has been checked by the bike shop. Replaced one spoke and straightened and tightened the rest. €30.
I shared the case with Zara and asked her how we could solve it.

ZEN will cover the cost.

Nothing but compliments about the way that they've handled this.

Hi friends

I am close to ordering a wheelset from ZEN. However I am still a bit unsure which profile to go for. I am torn between the 24 iW / 31 outer and the new 25 iW / 32 outer.

I already am pretty much set for:
- 60/60mm depth
- 3,1 ultralight carbon spokes (dont like the looks of the 5,1mm)
- steel bearings
- 54t hub

I am at 85kg bodyweight (coming from Crossfit and weightlifting). The bike (about to order an X68 frameset) will be used almost exclusively in the flats.

Any advice on rim width etc. is welcome!

I think the wide the better. But also take note of what tires you will use. 25 IW will be better if you'll use 30c or above.
